CURRENT MAKEUP FAVORITES VOL 1

Hello everyone and happy 2017! I can’t believe the holidays are over and a new year, full with potential and surprises has come. For the first (and admittedly late) post of 2017, I thought I would share with you all the new makeup additions to my collection, which I am excited to use. You probably all know by now how much of a beauty-addict I am. I need to try new products all the time, without of course forgetting my favorite staple ones.

Image: www.sephora.com

The first thing on my list is the one I am most excited about: the Kat Von D Tattoo liner. OMG! This is the best eyeliner ever! I am not very good in using eyeliner – I’ve only been using it for a couple of months now- which is why this eyeliner is perfect. It has the finest, thinnest tip ever, which I absolutely love because it helps me create a simple but precision fleek. It is so easy to use and it is buildable, which means you can go for a cute daytime thin fleek, to a thicker and bolder nighttime one. I have already stocked up with a second one!

Another favorite I actually got in a magazine is the new Rimmel Volume Colorist mascara. I am such a sucker for mascaras and I love trying new ones all the time, which is why I have more samples than full-sized ones. This is my first Rimmel mascara and I have to say I was very impressed. It has a tint complex that supposedly tints your lashes and makes them stand out more. So basically if your lashes are quite pale and sometimes non-existent, this mascara will add color to them during a period of time and make them stand out even without it. On that subject I don’t have to say much, since my lashes are quite visible on their own and I haven’t been using only this mascara on a daily basis. What I loved about it is the long, slightly pyramid shape brush with the perfectly separated bristles. This brush elongates and separates my lashes, making them look beautiful yet natural; it is just perfect for a simple day look.

Another brand I absolute love is Colourpop. I had heard so many amazing words about Colourpop products that last year I decided to take the plunge and try a few of its famous Liquid Matte Lipsticks and boy was I not disappointed! The lipsticks are incredible and at such an affordable price (full review here). This year I thought I should try out some other products as well, such as its highlighters and eyeshadows. Although full reviews and swatches of everything I got will follow-up soon enough, I simply had to mention two of my favorite Highlighters in this post. The first one is called Hippo and it is the most gorgeous, icy lavender color ever and the second one is called Monster and it is a beautiful nude/champagne shade with pink shimmer. What I love about these highlighters is how creamy (they are creamy and not powdery) and how discreet they are. They are quite sheer, yet buildable and create a gorgeous shimmery effect. Especially the Hippo one had literally lifted my cheekbones; it was beautiful!

Image: www.colourpop.com

Still in the Colourpop brand and apart from the shadows and highlighters, I also got my first Ultra Satin Lipstick, since I only had matte ones. I was a bit skeptical about the Satin finish as I don’t really enjoy creamy and shiny lipsticks. The one I got is in the shade London Fog, a lovely, deep -yet bright enough- red. Once again Colourpop hadn’t disappointed me. The color is so beautiful and I feel it really suits me. The satin finish is very lovely; it is not creamy and shiny at all, on the contrary from a distance it looks rather matte. But it is more moisturizing than a matte one, and it glides easier on the lips.

Another makeup favorite I absolutely love is Burberry’s Lip and Cheek Bloom in the shade Purple Tulip. This is a multipurpose product as it can be used on the lips and cheeks. It is not an actual lipstick and blush but more of a lip and cheek stain.  I really like these types of products for when you are on the go or travelling, plus they are perfect for a more natural everyday makeup look. This product is really creamy and buttery, and has a lovely color payoff. The shade I got is simply amazing; if there was one shade in the whole world that could describe and be me, it would be this shade. It is the most gorgeous pink/fuchsia shade!

Image: www.sephora.com

I have always loved full and well-shaped brows. I believe they basically map and frame the entire face. All my eyebrow products are among my favorite ones. Even on the days I am going for a more casual and natural look, I always take care of my eyebrows. Most of the time I am using either powder products or pencil ones but I always wanted to try the Dipbrow Pomade by Anastasia Beverly Hills. When I first used it I was very excited as my eyebrows looked amazing and fierce; so professional. However, I have to warn you guys that this is a very creamy and pigmented product. You literally need the smallest quantity for the entire brow, otherwise you risk of looking like a fool with slug-eyebrows. Also you need a very thin and sturdy brush because precision is the key when using this product. It is long-lasting and quite smudge-proof. Absolutely recommend it!

Image: www.hm.com

The last makeup item I recently got and love so much is the Matte Lip Colour lipsticks by H&M Beauty. I got quite a few due to the sale that’s been going on these days and I am totally hooked. They are really good quality, long-lasting and truly matte. Also the color selection is quite huge and caters for all tastes. I got different shades ranging from red and coral-red to fuchsia and purple. They are all equally pretty. And the best about them is their amazing price at 10 euros! So cheap yet so lovely!

ASOS Shoes – New In + Reviews

ola1

Although it is already November, hence the end of Fall, up until now it was quite warm and summery in Greece. However, this didn’t stop me from enriching my shoe wardrobe with a few new pairs from ASOS that I simply fell in love with. Every new season, is an excuse to change my wardrobe and freshen it up a little by adding a few new pieces. This Fall I went a little overboard and practically raided the shoe section of ASOS site. My birthday 10% code only fueled my addiction. Although I picked a couple of black ones, as black is my favorite color and a staple one, this time I decided I needed a bit of a change and I went outside my comfort zone for once by picking some – surprise!!! – colorful shoes as well.

My choices were mostly inspired by some major fall-winter trends we saw on the catwalk and by my practical side as well. Therefore, I tried to combine the cool new trends with staple pieces. I am not a huge fan of heels; I do not wear them often, especially on my day ventures. On the contrary I absolutely love flats; from loafers and ballerinas to sneakers and ankle boots. Therefore, all my choices are completely flat shoes.

The first shoes I picked and fell in love with, are these lovely black ballerinas, with ankle straps. They are super comfortable and versatile; I can wear them with dresses, skirts and jeans, creating many looks for daytime and nighttime. These ballerinas are part of my slight obsession with the Miu Miu ones, inspired by the actual shoes for ballet dancing. Everyone can admit that these Miu Miu flats are one of the hottest shoes of this season. Since their price is a bit out of my range, I was on the lookout for a good, yet cheap dupe. Once I saw these shoes I simply fell in love with them. Very lovely!

Another major trend of the season – and we have Gucci to thank for – is the good old loafer. This style is a good alternative for the ballerina flats, but it adds a bit more masculinity and structure to a look. I never really went after this style but in the spirit of change and experimentation, this Fall I decided to get my hands on a few pairs of loafers. To be precise I got three pairs. I know it sounds a bit too much but in my defense they were quite cheap (plus the discount code); I simply couldn’t resist. I got a lovely black one for every day (staple and favorite color), a leopard one, which I believe is also quite a staple piece since it goes well with everything but adds a little something to a casual look, and lastly a silver one (getting out of my comfort zone here). Metallic shades are one of my favorite trends of this season, because I feel that they can glam up any look, from a simple pair of jeans with a jumper, to a cute mini skirt with a shirt.

bow-flats
Image: www.asos.com

Another pair of flats that caught my attention is this pair of pink, satin flats with a cute black bow. Now if this isn’t outside my comfort zone I don’t know what is. This pair is life! I love how it is made of satin, a luxurious fabric, which is why these shoes are my fancier, yet comfortable choice. The bow and pink color just add a girly vibe to it which makes this pair a perfect addition to my collection, since I don’t have enough girly shoes or clothes.

studded-flats
Image: www.asos.com

Last but not least, there is another pair of black flats. These shoes are beautiful, pointy, black flats with ankle straps and studs. Spikes and studs add a rock, badass vibe to a plain pair of shoes, which is something I absolutely love. These specific ones also remind me of the Valentino Rockstud flats, which are gorgeous, yet outside my price range. I believe that the ASOS ones come pretty close and in such a low price. Pair them with some jeans and jumper and a leather jacket for a total 80’s rock look.

On a sidenote, although I am a UK 8 size, on ASOS most shoes are rather small for me so I always go for a size UK 9 just to make sure it fits. So all the shoes mentioned above were a size 9 apart from the last pair which is a size UK 8 because it runs rather big. Like really big. Also my animal print loafers were a bit big, but I sticked with the size 9 anyways, because they have a pointy tip, and pointy shoes turn to squeeze my poor toes. All of the shoes are quite comfy, but the black and silver loafers, as well as the ballerinas, are really, really thin. It doesn’t bother me, but be aware that they are quite thin shoes compared to the rest. Lastly, the ones with the bow are very sturdy and a bit tight around my foot, probably because of the satin material.

I absolutely love each and every one of the shoes I picked in the past month. With my black and colorful flats I feel more than ready for this season. All I can say is: THANK YOU ASOS!!

MY FAVORITE PERFUMES

MY FAVORITE PERFUMES

1

Hello everybody and happy Sunday! Today I am going to share with you guys my favorite perfumes; the ones that make me happy and I love wearing them. For years I was a perfume addict; I was wearing a perfume every single day, because the idea of having a scent trail when I was out and about, made me feel really happy. I don’t wear perfume for others don’t get me wrong; I wear perfume because it just makes me feel good about myself. I feel fresh. That’s it! I feel like I just stepped out of the shower and I smell all lovely and fresh. I also love the associations created in someone’s head when they smell my perfume. However, a few years ago I developed certain allergies. I never had allergies in my life, but apparently the last 3 years I have developed some sort of allergies that sadly could get worse due to strong odors. Therefore, I was advised not to wear strong perfumes or too often or too much. This made me really sad because I already had a quite big collection, which I did partially give to my mom. However, I still have a few perfumes I really love and wear, plus a couple of new additions to my collection.

Miss Dior Cherie

4

This is an iconic perfume. It is probably the oldest in my collection and there is only a little left. It has a lovely orangey tone along with a hint of jasmine, which is one of my favorite flowers. I really love this perfume because it is not sexy and sultry; instead it is more girly and innocent. It is what a Lolita would wear. Plus the bottle with the cute bow is simply dreamy!

Lily of the Valley and Ivy by Jo Malone

6

I got this perfume last summer and it was part of the limited edition Tudors collection by Jo Malone. I didn’t have a Jo Malone perfume by then but I had heard many amazing things about the brand. Once I smelled the perfume at the store I instantly fell in love with it. It is the most wonderful scent I have ever smelled. Honestly and without exaggeration I love this perfume; it is the perfect powdery scent combined with the notes of lily flower. I love how it reminds me of the countryside and green fields. It is a nice light perfume that makes me feel peaceful.

French Lime Blossom by Jo Malone

7

Another Jo Malone favorite, I love this scent so much that I was torn whether I should get the perfume or the candle. Eventually I went with the perfume because I wanted to have the scent on me more, instead of my house. I got it on Christmas and I have been wearing it all the time since. It is another very light powdery scent, combined with the scent of blossomed flowers. I love wearing this all day round.

Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel

3

Another old-time favorite, this perfume is my oldest along with the Miss Dior Cherie. I have always loved Chanel as a brand because it symbolized elegance and class. This perfume is exactly that: an elegant citrusy perfume that is not as light and girlie as the previous ones. On the contrary, it has a stronger, more oriental scent. It is more feminine than girlie. I love wearing it in the nighttime more, although in the past I used to wear it in the day as well. Now I just feel it is too strong for the day time, so I use it on special occasions at night. This is the perfect elegant, mysterious and feminine perfume.

Valentina by Valentino

2

This perfume is one of the latest additions to my collection. When I smelled this perfume in New York about 2 years ago, I was instantly in love. It had an orangey scent combined with jasmine, kind of like the Miss Dior Cherie, but a bit sweeter. It is a soft floral perfume with a bit of sweetness, perfect for the day time or in the nighttime, when I am going for a more girly look. I am so happy to finally get my hands on this perfume. I love the scent and the beautiful bottle with the pink and white rose. So feminine and romantic! I haven’t got the chance to wear it many times yet but I absolutely recommend it to everyone who wants a classy, romantic and girly perfume.

Bon Bon by Viktor & Rolf

5This is the second latest addition to my perfume collection. I absolutely love this perfume. Like with Valentina, I first saw this perfume on my trip to New York 2 years ago and I was instantly drawn by its unique bottle. Who can resist this cute fuchsia bow? It is so beautiful! This perfume has a quite sweet scent as the name suggests. However, it is not sickly sweet. It has the right amount of sweetness that doesn’t make you or the others sick, but it does linger, leaving a sweet trail behind you. Apart from the orange and jasmine scents that seem to attract me, it has a caramel tone which justifies the sweetness. I really enjoy a sweet scent, because it just makes me happy and makes me feel like I am a living, breathing candy. It feels playful and fun. Its purpose is not to seduce but to just bring joy. Whenever I wear it I feel I am simply irresistible, because who can resist a sweet bon bon candy?

I love wearing perfumes or even body mists; it just makes me feel really good and lifts up my mood. I like the powdery and flowery scents mostly, but sometimes I like a strong, almost masculine scent. I do have a soft spot for men’s perfumes as well, but I don’t really have anything like that. I enjoy wearing perfume pretty much all the time; in the morning when I go out for a casual walk and also when I am going out at night. In the daytime I do prefer to use the body mists more as they are lighter and easily dissolved, whereas in the nighttime and on special occasions, I like to spray on a nice perfume. Although I really love each and every one of the perfumes I have mentioned above, I am more excited to wear my latest additions. I know that due to my allergies, I am not supposed to wear perfumes a lot but I know I am going to add a couple more to my collection pretty soon. I just can’t resist! I would love to know your favorite perfume or body mist. Comment below and share your favorite scents and also don’t forget to pop over my Instagram (@vogueandmacarons) and Twitter (@vogueandmacaron) to say hi!

CHANEL AND LANCOME SKINCARE REVIEW

CHANEL AND LANCOME SKINCARE REVIEW

BLOG1

Happy February everyone! As you have probably realized by now, I am into skin care products more than make up ones. Skincare products improve the skin and help deal with any problems it may have, instead of just masking and covering them up. I like trying different skin care products from different brands, as I am always searching for something better and different from the products I already have. I don’t really have high-end brands makeup and skin care, but on January there was a huge sale on a few shopping centres and I decided it was my chance to get some high-end skin care. Therefore, I went with Chanel and Lancome. I already have a couple of skin care products from both brands and I really like them. From both brands I picked a toner and a mask, because I love toners and I always like to try new masks.

BLOG41

BLOG5

From Chanel I got the Silky Soothing Toner for Comfort and Anti-Pollution and the Hydration, Protection and Radiance Mask from the Hydra Beauty line. I used both products and I sadly have to admit I am not very satisfied with both of them. First thing’s first, the Toner is a nice toner which refreshes the skin, but it is not something that wowed me. It smells lovely, but I don’t feel it really cleanses my skin. It is supposed to be anti-pollution, but besides refreshing my skin, I don’t feel it does anything else. It’s not that I don’t like it, I just feel that the other toners I have offer something more. The Mask, as well, is not something amazing. It is a moisture mask for radiant and smooth skin, that you apply on your face before you sleep and you massage it into your skin before you sleep. It felt really greasy on my skin and my skin couldn’t absorb it at all. I don’t know if this is how the product is supposed to be, but I really hate greasy products that make my skin look shiny and they are not absorbed easily. Even once I woke up the product was still there. It had been absorbed a little but you could still feel my skin being sticky. I didn’t like the mask and I felt it also broke me out a bit. I never had acne or any skin issues but after the mask I had a couple of zits and irritation, which to be is a break out. Really unhappy with the mask.

BLOG2 BLOG3

From Lancome I got the Clarifying Exfoliating Toner and the Purifying Mineral Mask with White Clay. Unlike with Chanel, I was really satisfied with Lancome. I have two products already from the brand and I really love them, so I had high expectations from the two new ones. The Toner is amazing. I absolutely love it! It has a strong scent because it contains alcohol. Toners which contain alcohol, are not suitable for dry and sensitive skin types; they will dry out the dry skin and irritate the sensitive skin. It didn’t irritate my skin at all. I would classify my skin as a little sensitive, but not much. Therefore, the toner didn’t affect my skin negatively at all. On the contrary, It actually helped my skin a lot. Every time I use the toner, the cotton pad is quite dirty even after I have cleansed my skin. This is something I hadn’t noticed before with my other toners. I was always under the impression that I had cleansed my skin a lot and therefore there was nothing for the toner to remove. With this toner I realized I was wrong; there always was some dirt left and this toner will definitely remove it. So happy I actually got the 400 ml bottle (double the size of my other toners), because it will last me for a long time. The Mask is really good as well. It is a clay mask and as with all clay masks, it becomes solid on my skin before I rinse it off. Its scent is quite unpleasant, but it doesn’t really bother me and the results I get are amazing; my skin feels really tight and bright afterwards which I love. I used the mask on my mom, who has a different skin to mine, and it was a success as well. Her skin was so moisturized, tight and brighter than before. Such a lovely mask. The skin really feels extra clean and refreshed. It even feels tighter which is great! I prefer it much more than the Chanel one.

Recently I added some high-end products to my skin care collection, from Chanel and Lancome, as I don’t have anything almost from the first brand, and I love whatever I have from the second. I was quite disappointed with the Chanel products, because although the toner was simply ok, the mask was quite underwhelming. The toner has a nice, refreshing feel but nothing more than that. The mask is greasy, sticky and not easily absorbed. It also broke me out a little bit, which doesn’t happen often. Unlike Chanel’s products, the Lancome ones were great. The toner is amazing, because it really moisturizes and cleanses my skin and the mask is great because it makes my skin feel more plum, tighter and brighter. What more could you ask from a mask right? I totally recommend the Lancome products but for the Chanel ones I am not satisfied therefore, I can’t really recommend them. The toner is ok for refreshing your skin, so I suppose you could try it out but the mask is a let down. I would love to hear your opinion about these products and which is your favorite toner in general? Comment down below and share! MY FAVORITE EVERYDAY JEWELLERY

MY FAVORITE EVERYDAY JEWELLERY

5

Jewellery is an important part of my everyday look. If I leave the house without a ring or two, my earrings or a bracelet, I feel naked. I feel that I don’t “shine”. I love wearing jewellery because I believe that they can completely transform even the simplest and most blunt outfit. Although I have so much jewellery, because I like variety, I have been quite loyal for the last month and I can’t wait to share my most worn pieces with you guys!

RINGS

Shop Dixi rings
Shop Dixi rings

Indigo Lune rings
Indigo Lune rings

I absolutely love rings; they are my favorite type of jewellery. Even when I don’t wear any earrings or necklaces, I always have at least one ring on my hands. In general I am not a huge fan of gold, therefore, most of my jewellery are either silver or white gold. I just love the silvery metallic look of them. Recently, I placed my first order on Indigo Lune site, which has bohemian style jewellery, and I got two rings I am in love with. Both of them are flower designs; the long one is a lily and the other one a lotus flower. I love long rings that kind of take over your finger. I feel I am a mixture of Goth and rock wearing them. They are quite simple, so it’s easy to match and combine them with others. My other two favorite silver rings are from Shop Dixi. They have gemstones, which is another type of ring I like. A simple ring with a gemstone is so magical and it is just right up my alley. One of the rings has a dark red stone, which is something I didn’t have already, and the other one has a white-grey stone, which is perfect for all year round and matches with everything. I absolutely love all those rings. I do however, wear a couple of gold/rose gold one because I do like gold and especially rose-gold, but mostly I wear my silver ones.

 BRACELETS

Swarovski bracelet
Swarovski bracelet

I don’t really wear many bracelets, because there are two I never take off because they have special meaning for me. Those two bracelets are gift from my mom from a jewellery store years ago, so I don’t really feel I need to mention them. However, for Christmas my mom got me a wonderful Swarovski bracelet that I had my eye set, and it has become my go-to bracelet lately. Again it has the silver tone and it looks like there are two bangles entwined. The first bangle is just plain with crystals all over the top and the other one looks the same but without the crystals. I love this bracelet because it can be worn on a casual day but also in the night time. It is versatile as the crystals make it look fancy but the other bangle tones it down. Such a pretty bracelet!

EARRINGS

Accessorize earrings
Accessorize earrings

I love wearing earrings and especially studs instead of dangling ones, because I feel they are more discreet and classy. This doesn’t mean I don’t wear longer ones as well; i quite like the bohemian style as well as the old Hollywood glam. However, my go-to earrings are almost always studs and again (surprise, surprise) silver toned. I have about 3-4 pairs I like the most (I have a gazillion pairs in total and all of them fake), but I mostly wear these round hoop studs, because they are not too flashy, but they do have some glam with their tiny rhinestones. They are very simple yet classy, and they match with everything I wear because they are not too bold. They are from Accessorize, and I got them on sale last year. So cheap yet it doesn’t really show.

I absolutely love wearing jewellery; they transform and complete any look. From earrings to rings, I love the subtle and classy looking items that basically showcase my personality. I am a fan of the silver tones, the rhinestones (not too many or too few) and the gemstones. My jewellery express me; they are simple and elegant yet not too flashy or bulky. All these puppies mentioned above accompany my daily outfits and I really love them. Which is your favorite piece of jewellery? Post a picture on Instagram with the hashtag #myfavjewell and I will like it! Also don’t forget to pop over my Twitter (@vickyinlalaland) and Instagram (@blueberrylover) and say hi!

THE GIFT OF GODDESS – HOLIDAY SET REVIEW

THE GIFT OF GODDESS – HOLIDAY SET REVIEW

charlotte tilbury

Hello guys! Being sick for a few days now has really brought down my mood, however, this weekend I received something I have been dying to try out since the end of November; Charlotte Tilbury’s “The Gift of Goddess” skin holiday set. You all may know by now that I am quite a skin care hoarder. I love skin care products probably more than makeup ones. The reason for that is that with skin care products you don’t just enhance your characteristics and your natural beauty, but you can actually improve your imperfections or any problems your skin may have. Skin care products are a huge addiction for me, especially moisturizers and face cleansers. I just love trying different brands and see what they have to offer.

charlotte

Charlotte Tilbury is a very renowned makeup artist who works with many celebrities. I have heard so many amazing things about her makeup and skin care products so I have been longing to try some for quite a while. When I am not sure about a brand, I prefer to try a sample first before I invest in a full size product. Holiday sets are the perfect way to get to know a brand and try many different products. Therefore, when her holiday sets came out I really wanted to get one. I picked “The Gift of Goddess” skin set, because the products included are the ones I really wanted to get. The set has 3 products and is 15 ml each. It has Charlotte’s Magic Cream, which is a moisturizer, the Wonderglow, which is an illuminating cream like a highlighter, and the Goddess Skin Clay Mask, which obviously is a mask.

cream

Charlotte’s Magic Cream is absolutely lovely. It is a moisturizing cream with SPF 15 so you can wear it in the daytime. I have been wearing it in the nighttime as part of my before-sleep routine. My skin is quite dry recently because of the cold weather and I need a good moisturizer. This cream is simple lovely. It smells amazing, like roses and gardenia, is thick enough but it is absorbed easily by the skin and it is spreadable, which means you only need a small quantity to cover the entire face. So although it is 15 ml, it will last for a while. I really enjoy using this cream and I do feel my skin moisturized. However, the best part is how soft my skin feels next morning. It is smooth like a baby’s butt. I absolutely recommend it.

mask

The Goddess Skin Clay mask is a mask that lifts, smooths, brightens your skin and tightens your pores. I have used the mask twice so far and I am not very sure how I feel about it. It has the same lovely scent as the cream and it is very easy to apply on your skin. Because you need a thick layer in order to have some results, the 15 ml may not last for as long as the cream. It has a nice feel to it and it is easy to remove with a warm cloth. I love how my skin is soft and smooth afterwards and it does look a little brighter however, I can’t really tell if it lifts the skin and tightens the pores. I believe if it is used for a longer period, you might get all the mentioned results, but just after a couple of times I didn’t get everything promised. Hence I am unsure how I feel about it. I am not dissatisfied, but it is more like one of these products that don’t really wow you. It is a nice mask, smells good and is quite rehydrating. It feels lovely and it brightens the skin a bit. I am glad I got a 15 ml sized tube to check it out before I splurge on the big one.

highlighter

Lastly, the Wonderglow is a very promising product but I don’t believe I fully understood what it is when I first put it on. I was under the impression it is a sort of metallic highlighting primer, like Benefit’s High Beam but as a primer. You can use the product under your foundation, over your foundation or just on its own on a makeup free face. Once I applied it though, I realized it is a shimmery product. It has a beige color which dissolves once you apply it, and it is very shimmery. I don’t like shimmer on my skin a lot especially on an everyday basis. I made the mistake to apply it to my entire face which stressed me out because I didn’t want to have shimmer on my forehead and chin. The shimmer however, is quite discrete, so I am confused as to what the product really does; if the shimmer is barely seen then I don’t understand what’s the point of it. Plus I can only apply shimmer on my cheeks, otherwise it’s going to look tacky a bit. So this product is very confusing to me and I didn’t really enjoy it.

“The Gift of Goddess” skin set by Charlotte Tilbury, is a lovely holiday set for anyone who has never used the brand before. The products are a great introduction to the brand’s skincare line. The size is quite small for the money you pay ( 50 euro ) but compared to the price for the full-sized ones it’s a good deal. Overall the products are quite nice, with the Magic Cream the set’s hit. I recommend this set for anyone who wants to try the brand out plus it would make a lovely Christmas present. Have you guys tried any of these products and if so what do you think about them? Don’t forget to pop over Instagram (@blueberrylover) and Twitter (@vickyinlalaland) to say hi.

NOVEMBER FAVORITES

NOVEMBER FAVORITES

123

November and autumn – which is my favorite season – might be gone, but December has set in, with Christmas just around the corner. Since it’s the end of the month, I have done a roundup of my most loved and used products! This is so exciting, as it is also my first “monthly favorites” post and I can’t wait to share with you guys everything that really got in my heart this month. I am going to mention not only my beauty favorites, but also my fashion ones as well as some random things!

Beauty – Skincare – Hair care

As a nail polish hoarder, I fell in love with H&M new nail polishes (see full review). Reinventing its beauty department, H&M came up with a new nail polish line, which looks higher end than their usual nail polishes and is a bit more expensive. However, they are absolutely amazing! I am completely converted. They are easy to apply, they dry in merely 5 minutes and they last for a little over a week with minor chipping. Also they so shiny you don’t even need to apply a top coat. I can’t say enough good words about them! I have already got 6 colors and I intend to get more, since the variety is huge!

I absolutely love Burberry’s Velvet foundation (see full review). It is very light and watery, so it is easy to apply and has a sheer, velvet finish. It blends in to my skin in such an easy way, that I can’t even tell I am wearing anything. I really love the sheer finish, especially for every day casual makeup because it doesnt burnden my skin. This foundation has by far the sheerest coverage I have seen. I love how the shade I have has a rosy undertone which is perfect for my pale, pinkish skin. In total, it is a wonderful foundation, perfect for those who seek something sheer and light.

Another makeup monthly favorite is my Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel. Up until recently I was using either a pencil or a shadow for my eyebrows. Lately though, I started using my ABH sample sized clear brow gel and I am in love. I know it is just a clear gel but I love how it sets my eyebrows in a perfect way. They look naturally full and groomed and you can’t see the imperfections and sparse areas.

I got Lancôme’s Renergie Lift Multi Action from a magazine and I decided to give it a try. I am so glad i did! It is amazing. Although it has anti-aging properties, for me it does wonders in moisturizing my skin. It is quite thick, almost like butter and it is absorbed instantly from the skin. I find my face so smooth the following morning and it looks clear and bright. I am very surprised with this cream and very happy I came across it. It is part of my nighttime routine now!

Moroccanoil hair treatment (see full review) is my holy grail! I had heard so many great things about it that I decided to give it a go. This product is simply amazing. I use only a pump for my entire hair and it makes my hair incredibly soft. Also my hair is easier to detangle. I am so shocked at how good this product is. All these reviews weren’t lying. You only need a little bit and your hair will be so nourished, soft and shiny. Definitely a favorite!

My Public Desire over the knee boots (see full review) is my favorite pair of shoes for this month. They are so comfortable and pretty. They have a lovely fit, even though they are a bit big around my thighs, and they look so sexy. I love over the knee or thigh high boots. They look good with everything, either jeans or skirts and dresses, and they can be worn for a casual look or a fancier nighttime one. So perfect!

I absolutely love this ASOS black and red checkered coat. It is so pretty and because it has a biker jacket style, there is a rock vibe to it that I find very cool. I love how it’s black but the red checkered lines are so discreet. It is woollen so it’s very warm and has huge pockets which is perfect for when I am lazy and I don’t want to carry a bag with me. Also the detachable black furry collar makes it even cooler and warmer, plus it adds some sophistication which is perfect for the nighttime.

These H&M jumpers are simply amazing. I love how they are so long that can be worn with leggings or opaque tights alone. They are very warm but not woolen (wool itches my skin). Also they have the distressed detail at the bottom which adds some spice to the otherwise ordinary jumper. I have both of the colors they come in: grey and white-grey. They are so flattering and perfect for winter!

I am a proper book-worm! I love reading books more than watching movies because while I am reading a book, I become creative and built the stories and the characters in my head. I feel like I am living the story myself. Although I have over 50 unread books in my library, I just can’t stop buying new ones. I am a book-addict! Lately I have been reading the 7 Letters from Paris book and I like it a lot. It is a romantic novel about a woman who met the love of her life at Paris and let him go. 20 years later, after a failed marriage, she goes back to Paris to find that one love and apologize to him! I am a sucker for love stories, what can I say! I recommend this book to all the romantic souls out there!

I absolutely love my Diptyque Violette candle (see full review). I don’t have much to say, since I already have a post raving about it, but this has to be the best candle I have ever used. Like it is amazing! It has a powdery, discreet scent that makes me feel calm and happy. I loved this so much, that I actually finished it in merely a month and repurchased it immediately!

I am so excited to share all the things I loved this past month with you guys. Either they are makeup and skin care or fashion and lifestyle, those things took a special place in my heart and made November a much better month for me! Do you have any of the things mentioned above and if so how do you feel about it? I would love to hear from you guys and also don’t forget to pop over Instagram (@blueberrylover) and Twitter (@vickyinlalaland) and say hi!

JO MALONE OR DIPTYQYE?

 JO MALONE OR DIPTYQUE?

ugh 882

I always loved candles! There is something relaxing and soothing in the air when there is a lovely candle burning in the room. The scent is all over the space and it makes the tension disappear at once. Because of this love I have for candles, in the last couple of years, I have evolved into a great candle hoarder. I have about two dozen candles of all shapes and sizes and possibly a dozen candle holders to go with.  Yankee Candle have been my favorite brand for years and almost all my candles are Yankee ones, however, recently I felt the need to get myself a more high-end candle. There are two brands that are increasingly popular for their candles; Jo Malone and Diptyque. It seems that everyone talks about them lately and you can basically find them in every youtuber’s and blogger’s house. The choice was so hard, since both brands have a variety of amazing scents, so I decided to pick one of each.

When I smelled Jo Malone’s Peony and Blush Suede, it was love at first sniff! That candle is gorgeous! It has such a subtle, flowery scent that is very relaxing and calming. It has a lovely packaging with a cute black bow on the top and it comes with a pack of long, black matches to light it up. I also really like the box, as it looks luxurious and it can be used as storage space or simply for decoration. It was at 53 Euros (58.40 $) for 200g and it is supposed to burn for 45 hours.

Although I liked a few different scents from Jo Malone, it was a little harder to pick a few good ones at Diptyque; not because the candles didn’t smell nice but because most of the scents were not my cup of tea. One that really caught my nose’s attention, was Violette. That must be the loveliest scent I have ever smelled. It is quite strong but not overwhelming; even when the candle was still in the box, my whole room smelled like it. It is a powdery flowery scent that lingers in the room and for some reason makes me smile by bringing up happy memories in my head. I can’t really explain it; basically, it is a candle that makes me smile! It doesn’t have a lid unlike Jo Malone’s, but in the box it comes with a little booklet that shows the entire process of making the candle, which I find really interesting. It gives the impression of a brand that is indeed specialized in the art of making candles. Another bonus was that the lady at the counter threw in a couple of perfume samples so I also got a taste of Diptyque’s perfumes; overall, I am highly impressed! It was at 44 Euros (48.5 $) for 190g and it is supposed to burn for 60 hours.

I love both of the candles as each one is different and unique in its own way. However, I can’t deny that Diptyque has impressed me beyond words. The scent is wonderful, stronger but not unpleasant, lasts way longer and is cheaper. Jo Malone is an incredible candle as well but it does last less and is more expensive. Overall, I recommend both candles, as they are both luxurious and far better quality than many other candles hence the quite high price tag. If you are about to buy your first high-end candle, I would advise you to begin with Diptyque and then expand to Jo Malone. Both brands have some amazing scents! Comment down below and let me know which brand do you prefer and why, as well as which one is your favorite scent. I know I need to get my hands on Jo Malone’s French Lime Blossom!

There are many products this month that caught my eye; some are makeup and body products and some are hair products. These new entries listed below are so amazing that will definitely be mine very soon:

  • GAB Luminous Silk Powder by Armani
Luminous Silk Powder
Luminous Silk Powder

A  new powder foundation by Armani, with a silky feeling for a matte yet luminous result. It feels so luxurious on the skin and makes it very smooth. It is long-wearing and you can build it up.  Although I love my Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation, I can’t wait to try this one for a silky skin!

  • The Classic Cream Lipstick Red Royal by Dolce&Gabbana

Classic Cream Lipstick-Red Royal

This creamy and ultra moisturizing lipstick, is a D&G classic. It is long-lasting and very smooth upon the lips. The Red Royal shade, is part of the new D&G Loves Fall collection. Is an iconic red that will make every girl feel like a royalty. I don’t know about you guys, but I believe there’s no harm in feeling a little “princessy” every now and then 😉

  • Cosmetic Energy Noir Clay Palette by Tarte

What a beautiful, beautiful palette. I haven’t tried any Tarte products before but I am so tempted by this gorgeous fall palette. It’s part of Tarte’s famous Amazonia clay products, and has lovely cranberry and purple shades perfect for autumn. Plus a beautiful blush in earthly tone. As a fan of purple eye shadows, this palette would be a great addition to my collection.

  • Heavenly Gingerlily Caressing Body Polisher by Molton Brown

This spicy body scrub by Molton Brown, contains Tahitian volcanic sand (amazing!) and it transforms any tired skin to silky, soft one. With the warm spicy scent of ginger and cardamom is the perfect body polisher for autumn. As most of my body scrubs have either coffee or sugar, I really look forward to try this one with its volcanic black sand. No harm straying from our favorites sometimes, right?

  • Lime Basil & Mandarin Conditioner by Jo Malone

I love Jo Malone! The perfumes, the candles, everything smells amazing. Whenever I step over the counter, I can’t not try the perfumes or smell the candles; the scents instantly bring a smile to my face. This fall Jo Malone came up with a hair shampoo and conditioner series of its most popular scent; the Lime Basil & Mandarin.  It has lemon balm and chamomile which will make your hair smell amazing and feel so soft and glossy. Since I am a hair care hoarder lately and this product is amazing, it has to be mine!!

  • Resistance Serum Therapiste by Kerastase

Resistance Therapiste Serum

Last but not least, another hair care product from one of my favorite hair care brands ever, is the new heat serum by Kerastase. This serum is part of the Resistance Therapiste collection, and is perfect for damaged hair as it repairs not only split ends but also the entire length of the hair. Although I don’t use many styling tools, I do use the blow dryer often and occasionally my Nume curling wand, therefore, I was in need of getting a heat protecting cream. This serum will improve hair’s elasticity and strength and will reduce split ends up to 75%. I can’t wait to try this product as I need a good heat protector and I would love it if my split ends disappear or at least improve!

All these products are this month’s new entries that I long to try. From Armani’s silky powder to Jo Malone’s blissfully scented conditioner, these products promise to make your face, body and hair feel and look amazing. They will add some luxury to your skin care, makeup or hair care routine, and I don’t know about you guys but I love adding some luxury to my life.  What do you guys think? Would give any of these products a go? Or if you have already tried them, I would love to hear your opinion about them! Don’t forget to subscribe! There will be a new post every Thursday and Sunday!

MAKEUP TRENDS AND FAVORITES FALL 2015

MAKEUP TRENDS AND FAVORITES FALL 2015

Pictures from www.harpersbazaar.com

As the weather gets colder and gloomier, I couldn’t be happier since fall is my favorite season! There is something about grey clouds and brown leaves that I just find fascinating and beautiful! What I love more however, is the transitional makeup of this period; moving from warmer and brighter colors, to cooler and darker ones!  In this post I am going to share my favorite trends and products of this season’s transitional makeup!

  1. Eyes

Two are the season’s hottest eye makeup trends: the nude, perfectly lined eyes and the timeless smokey eyes. For a perfect nude eye, I love using Urban Decay’s Naked Basics 2 palette which has 5 matte nude-brown eye shadows. Then I use either a liner – I love MAC’s gel liner in Blacktrack – or a dark brown eyeshadow as I find it perfect for a softer look. For the perfect smokey eye, I love Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. It has the perfect brown, bronze, silver and black colors for either a soft, melted chocolate smokey eye or a rock, fierce one. Don’t forget some layered, voluminous mascara, like Bobbi Brown’s Smokey Eye one and you are ready to go!

  1. Face

Fall is the season to put aside our bronzers and sculpting powders and  stock up on cool pink blushes, and champagne or rosy highlighters. I absolutely love MAC’s Full of Joy blush which is a cool toned pink with frost finish, as well as MAC’s Breath of Plum which is a sheer, darker pink (almost plum) shade. For highlighting I choose Benefit’s High Beam as it is the perfect shimmery pink highlighter, or MAC’s Blush Pink highlighting powder from the Philip Treacy collection, which is a silver infused pink powder. These products create a blushed and a perfectly glowing, cool toned skin, which is perfect match for the cooler weather.

  1. Lips

Brick red lips are perfect for fall. Paired with a flawless base and no eye-makeup, they create a warm look which contrasts with the cold weather. My favorites are MAC’s Amorous (satin cranberry) and Brick-O-LA (mid-toned berry), as well as NARS’s Audrey (red currant) from the audacious series.  However, if you’re feeling bold enough, another fall trend  is the 90’s – grunge inspired dark purple (almost black) lip. Blackish purple is a statement on its own, and therefore, it should be combined with a nude and flawless face. Feeling quite bold myself, lately I have my eyes set on MAC’s Nightmoth lip pencil which is a blackened plum shade. Once I tried it on it felt a bit strange as I am not used to this colors but I have come to really like it. What do you guys think? Do you have the Nightmoth pencil and if so how do you wear it? I am still a bit unsure so I would love any enabling!

This fall’s makeup is a mixture of trends like clear face-bold lips, soft brown eyes-pink cheeks and fierce metallic smokey eyes. Whichever trend you decide to follow, make sure to play with the colors and just be yourself! I would love to know which one is your favorite trend, so don’t forget to comment down below!
