BLUSH-THE SPRING PINK

BLUSH – THE SPRING PINK

ola

Blush pink is a color I have always loved. Maybe it’s my inner ballerina (another dream) or maybe it is the romantic in me, but I always loved this pale shade of pink that is neither too intense nor too faded. It is the pink shade that has a brown hint to it, which gives it an earthly vibe. I really like how easy this color is to match to others and how versatile it can be. It is the perfect color for the in-between seasons like autumn and spring. It reminds me of blossoming flowers. It is a sort of pastel but not really that much. Blush pink is a very popular color this spring and you can find it everywhere, from clothes to shoes and accessories. I love matching it to bronze, rose gold and silver, as these metallic shades are the perfect way to glam up a color that “shy”. Below I share with you guys my 5 favorite blush pink pieces for this spring.

The Coat

I love this loose pink coat from ZARA. It has the perfect blush shade and no buttons, which gives the relaxed vibe of a cardigan or a duster coat. It is not very thick, which makes it perfect for the warmer spring weather. I also love its big pockets, as I always like to keep my phone around instead of having it in and out my purse all the time. A really lovely spring coat!

The Top

This ASOS shirt with the ruffle hem is so cute and perfect for spring. It is lightweight and in a gorgeous pink shade. It has a girly vibe so it might not be for everyone, but I really like girly clothes and it is something you can style day and night.

The Skirt

A flowy, midi skirt in spring’s hot color, is a wardrobe season must. This ASOS midi skirt with buttons in blush is a very versatile piece for your wardrobe. You can style it with almost every color, and it can be dressed up or dressed down. I love pieces that can be worn at any part of the day without looking too much. It is perfect for the warm weather, when you want to wear a skirt which is a little more comfortable than a mini one.

The Pants

Now I am not a pants person; I love jeans, skirts, dresses and shorts but I don’t particularly like pants. However, if I had to pick a staple pair of pants for this season, it would be this ZARA pair of culottes. That is, because they combine two hot spring trends: the color blush and the culottes design. Some people think culottes are unflattering, and to be honest they can easily be, but I believe it is all about how you style them. A pair of flowy culottes is not the easiest piece to style, but with a nice flowy top or a shirt/t-shirt tucked in, they will look absolutely awesome. I like them because they are different from the usual cigarette pants and because of their gorgeous blush color.

The Shoes

A staple pieces list would not be complete without any accessories or shoes. Lately I am really obsessed with the lace up pointy flats. It is a style that has been a hot trend the past year, and I am totally caught up in this. I love how the lace up shoes can be a great alternative to the good old ballerina flats. They give a boho, yet more polished vibe which I love. You can have a very simple outfit but these shoes will definitely draw the attention. I particularly like this Missguided pair of lace up flats in blush, because of the color once again. I just love blush pink and I believe that its closeness to nude makes it a staple color to multi-match this season. Honestly, I can’t think of a better basic pair of shoes for spring than a pair of blush lace up flats.

Spring is a transitional season, where the weather gets warmer and everything gets brighter and more vivid in general. Blush is lovely shade of pink, which associates with the blossoming flowers and the earth, as it is quite close to nude. I really like this color, because it is versatile and therefore, easily styled. It is a girlier version of nude really. The 5 pieces mentioned above, are my favorite staples for this season in the color blush. I hope you enjoy my suggestions and I would love to hear your favorite items in blush or any other color you love for spring. 4 KEY PIECES TO GLAM UP ANY CASUAL LOOK

4 KEY PIECES TO GLAM UP ANY CASUAL LOOK

OLA

Have you ever went through a day where you felt that your casual and comfortable outfit is just a little too “plain”? Did you feel that it is nice and stylish but it doesn’t stand out much? Yet you didn’t want to sacrifice your much-needed day-comfort for something too”out there” or “too much” for the daytime? Well this year the rules are thrown out of the window; glaming up your casual look is a trend and it looks amazing. Whoever said that you can’t match dazzling pieces with simple comfy ones, could not be more wrong. Even I am drawn more and more to glamorous, metallic pieces that I could just incorporate to my casual daily looks, so I can spice them up a bit. These 4 pieces are perfect for those who don’t want to step out of their comfort zone much but they do want to glam up their routine.

The metallic bag

Imagine wearing a pair of your favorite jeans with a jumper and a pair of ankle boots; a pretty plain and simple outfit we all wear in the daytime. Now replace your favorite day bag with a nice metallic colored one; let’s say a silver one. How much different will this outfit look? Instantly it will be transformed. A silver-colored bag will glam it up and catch everyone’s attention. The outfit won’t be plain anymore; it will be more special but not in a tacky way. No matter how much I love this metallic Chloe Drew bag (image2), this beautiful silver ASOS (image1) one is much more affordable and simply stunning.

The metallic shoes

A touch of metal is the perfect way to glam up a casual outfit. It doesn’t always need to be a bag. Although a bag could be the safest choice for those who don’t like stepping out of their comfort zone, another choice could be the shoes or even the clothes of the look. The shoes are my other favorite option besides the bag. They are more daring and unconventional but the whole result could easily look tacky. However, with the right amount of metal and the right styling, the casual outfit would look more glamorous and you wouldn’t feel like you are in a futuristic movie. I love silver more than gold in an outfit, because it seems closer to white and it is more toned down. Therefore, I would love to add these Topshop loafer style silver flats (image1) to my casual outfit. Their price tag is incredible and they look so pretty. Not that I wouldn’t mind these Yves Saint Laurent pumps (image2) but their out of my reach. Plus I don’t feel comfortable with high heels on day basis. But boy do they look breathtaking!

The embellished skirt

Moving on a little from the metallic accessories, another way to glam up a casual look would be an embellished skirt. It could be embellished with gems, rhinestones, sequins or even studs. Pairing a skirt like that with a nice jumper or a t-shirt and a pair of flats or even sneakers, would result in an unusual everyday look. If the skirt is entirely made of sequins then I suppose it might be a little too much, but a nice pattern with gems, like this gorgeous lavender ASOS skirt (look at the price!) (image1), would look adorable. Or how about this grey Monki jersey skirt with gemstones (image2)? I can picture it with a pair of white sneakers and a jumper already!

The necklace

Lastly, another much simpler way of glaming up a casual look, would be the most obvious: a piece of jewellery. Adding a statement necklace to a plain white jumper, or a t-shirt or even a shirt, would jazz up the look on the spot. It wouldn’t be as dramatic as the previous choices, nor as daring, but it would be eye-catching nonetheless; like this gorgeous From St. Xavier gold necklace (image1), which is simple yet definitely eye-catching. I would love to match it to a cream or navy jumper. Or how about this New Look crystal necklace (image2)? We all know that a crystal necklace is a perfect classy and glamorous addition to any look. This necklace will turn even a simple t-shirt/jeans outfit into a more sophisticated and elegant one.

Adding some sparkle to an otherwise plain, casual outfit is an easy way to change and spice up your dressing routine. Without changing your style much or leaving your comfort zone, with these 4 pieces you can glam up your look and feel more special and dazzling even in the middle of the day. A casual outfit doesn’t mean it has to be plain or boring; it can be fun and interesting. How do you guys glam up your daily casual outfit? FALL 2015 TRENDS: THAT 70’S SHOW

THAT 70’S SHOW

NYFW 2015 FALL
NYFW 2015 FALL

With fall slowly creeping in, an old trend has made an appearance in all the major catwalks; the 70’s are back! While I wasn’t a huge fan of the bohemian/hippie era as a kid, this year I have come to be quite fond of it. I don’t know what it is about those fur vests and fringed boots, but taking a look at them makes me instantly happy.

From NYFW high-end brands to our always beloved high street ones (Topshop, ZARA, H&M etc.), 70’s is everywhere! However, as with all the retro trends that make a comeback, it is important to incorporate into your everyday wardrobe with caution as going too far could lead to an outfit turned into a costume; and it’s not Halloween yet! Below I have put together the 7 KEY PIECES of this trend that are easy to blend with your own style so you can spice it up and create that beautiful and effortless bohemian look for this fall.

  1. Fringe
From left to right: Topshop PU fringe jacket by Goldie, Asos Mango suedette fringe mini skirt, H&M Fringed blouse

Fringes, fringes everywhere! On boots, on vests, on dresses and purses, fringes are literally everywhere this season. To me it’s a combination of wild west style and hippie 70’s and they totally work together like penutbutter and jelly! I am in love with a fringe black purse from H&M and a pair of suede, camel, fringed boots from ZARA that probably won’t fit my feet! And what about that awesome Topshop jscket (pictured above) right? Just perfect! Fringes are such a fun and boho addition to any item. They could be suede or leather, long or short and they will still steal the show.

  1. Suede

Speaking of suede, now this is a fabric to look out for; Smooth like velvet but not as delicate, suede has always been one of my favorite materials to wear. It gives a sense of a wilderness for some reason. You can find it on skirts and dresses as well as –my personal favorite- shoes and especially long boots. What I like the most about it this season though, is the variety of colours as you can switch from the usual camel, to a pretty pale blue or a dark burgundy, like the beautiful Missguided dress (pictured above).

  1. Flared pants

Boy oh boy, who would have thought that flared pants would come back to haunt us? I remember in highschool that was all I was wearing but I haven’t touched them since college. Looking at them this season, I find myself incorporating them in several outfits in my head which has taken me by surprise. It could be a pair of bell-bottom jeans for a more relaxed boho look, or a pair of suede trousers for a more polished look. Look at this total denim look by Missguided (pictured above). I need this in my life! It’s time to add some flair in your lives 😉

  1. Bell-sleeve tops

This is one of my favorite key pieces! I absolutely love bell-sleeve tops. I either go for white, or pastel coloured sheer ones, or for floral prints as in that way I combine two trends I like; the boho with the romantic/girly. A nice loose top with bell sleeves is perfect for day to-night outfits; pair it with jeans or cutoffs in the day and with pretty A-line skirts and black pants for a night look. Just perfect!

  1. A-line skirts
From left to right: NastyGal Ladyland suede skirt , ZARA Suede skirt, Missguided Button through denim skirt pretty blue

A-line button down skirts are a major piece of this trend. They add more structure on the total look which why they are perfect match to the loose bell-sleeve tops. You will find them mostly in many denim shades which creates a laid back/country girl. My personal favorites are the vibrant blue shades, like the Missguided one (pictured above), as they are neither too dark nor too light so perfect for all year round. However, for the more adventurers out there, you can also find the IT skirt of the season made out of suede in mostly camel and brown shades. I know I will definitely get my hands on both styles; suede and denim. What about you?

  1. Crazy/funky prints

Bold, colorful designs make a strong appearance this fall. You will find them everywhere from maxi dresses and flared pants to Saturday Night Fever like jumpsuits. Paisley and floral prints add a total 70’s vibe and they turn any item into a statement piece. All i know is that I am definitely going to get my hands on that maxi dress goodness (pictured above) !! I can already see it paired with black thigh high boots!

  1. Vests
vests1111
From left to right: ZARA embroidered leather waistcoat, ZARA embroidered waistcoat, ZARA long furry waistcoat

Last but not least, a key piece for this fall would be the good old vest but with a twist; look for furry ones (faux always) or embroidered with flowers in creamy and burgundy shades, for the perfect hippie look. Think of Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix to get some inspiration on how to style such a unique piece. I absolutely love the long furry one by ZARA (pictured above) as it looks very warm and stylish! Flared pants and a furry vest are a match made in heaven for this season!

No one can deny that this fall it is the biggest come back of the 70’s. Earthly colors, bold prints, bell bottoms and tops, suede and fringe for modern bohemian queens, are just some of the characteristics of this trend. NYFW has already started and so much inspiration can be drawn from there for the modern fashionistas. Following my 7 key pieces post, there will be a KEY 70’s ACCESSORIES of this trend post where I’ll talk about shoes, purses and general accessories that are crucial to complete a 70’s look. If you want to be on the loop about everything on my blog all you have to do is click the follow button. Don’t forget you can also follow me on Bloglovin. Now off I go to get me some of these goodies cause I can’t wait for the proper fall to kick in already! What about you?
