3 QUICK BREAKFAST RECIPES

3 QUICK BREAKFAST RECIPES

ola

How many times have we heard in our lives that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? I remember my mom telling me as a kid about the benefits of breakfast and how it was essential for me so I can grow up. It may be such a cliché but it is also true; breakfast is the most important meal of the day! The reason is that breakfast is the first meal of the day; it is the one that will wake us up and give us the energy we need to go through the day. Sadly though, it is also something we tend to skip quite often because we are in a hurry. However, a healthy and filling breakfast doesn’t have to be difficult or time-consuming; it can be easy and quick. Below I share with you guys 3 of my favorite and quick breakfast recipes.

Coconut Acai Bowl

acai

Ingredients

2 cups of frozen mixed berries

1/2 banana

½ cup coconut milk (fresh)

1-2 tsp acai berry powder

Toppings

2 tbsp pumpking seeds

2 tbsp sunflower seeds

2 tbsp shredded coconut

½ banana cut in pieces

For this deliciously simple acai berry bowl, place the frozen berries with the milk in your smoothie blender and once they are blended a bit, add the banana and acai berry powder. Do not overblend. Pour the mixture in a bowl and add the toppings.

Chocolate and cinnamon porridge

porridge1

Ingredients

40 g oats

200 ml any milk of your choice (I use almond milk)

1 tsp organic cacao powder

1 tsp flaxseeds

1-2 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp agave syrup or honey

Toppings

3 tsp pumpkin seeds

2 tsp sunflower seeds

I absolutely love how simple this porridge is. Place the oats and milk in a pan on high heat. Once they start boiling add the cacao powder and the cinnamon and lower the heat while stirring. Once it becomes as thick as you like add the flaxseeds and agave syrup and give it a good stir. You can add anything you like on top; I added pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds!

Scrambled eggs and avocado on toast

egg

Ingredients

2 eggs

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

2 slices of bread of your choice (I used whole wheat)

A pinch of salt, pepper and garlic powder

½ avocado

Another quick and healthy recipe. The eggs and avocado have lots of protein which makes this recipe perfect for after workout or in general in the morning. On a hot pan pour the olive oil and crack the eggs. Toss them around and add the salt, pepper and garlic powder. Keep mixing them and tossing them around while turning the heat down to low. In the meantime, toast the slices of bread. Once the eggs are cooked, place them on the toasted bread. Scoop the avocado and place it on top of the eggs. Add some more salt and voila! Healthy and delicious.

Healthy breakfast doesn’t have to be a time-consuming, complicated task; it could be easy and quick. The above recipes are just some of my favorite ones for the days when I don’t have a lot of time in hand. Fruits, oats, grains, seeds and eggs, are good-for-you ingredients. MY FESTIVAL STYLE GUIDE

MY FESTIVAL STYLE GUIDE

OLA1

Spring has arrived for a while now, bringing the festival season with it. From Coachella to Glastonbury, festivals are a great place to listen to some amazing music, dance like crazy and basically have the greatest time of your life. What I also love about festivals though, is the clothes; those boho, relaxed, hippie festival outfits and looks, just fill my heart with joy. With a festival look, you have to combine style with comfort, as you are going to be walking around in the same clothes for hours in any kind of weather. Below I share my personal festival style must haves so you can be the queen of coolness without sacrificing your comfort.

Denim

Top-bottom: www.missguided.com, www.asos.com, www.asos.com, www.newlook.com, www.newlook.com, www.asos.com

Denim is the first thing that pops in mind when thinking of being comfortable. Since spring and summer are the hot seasons of the year, a nice pair of denim shorts would be the perfect choice for an outfit. High-waisted hot pants for a boho 70’s vibe or looser and distressed for a more rock 80’s vibe, shorts are the most relaxed and casual piece I know – besides my pyjamas. You can style them with basically whatever top you like from bralets and crochet tops to denim shirts (I love double denim) and sweatshirts. Another denim piece I consider a festival must is the denim jacket. The weather can be pretty unpredictable even in the hot summer; therefore a denim jacket is a cool way to keep yourself warm while dancing.

Dress

Top-bottom: www.hm.com, ww.missguided.com, www.missguided.com, www.missguided.com
Top-bottom: www.hm.com, www.missguided.com, www.missguided.com, www.missguided.com

A flowy, skater dress is another perfect festival attire. It is easy to dance in and can be a statement piece. Fringe, boho prints and off shoulders are my personal favorite styles. Nothing embodies the 70’s better than a beautiful dress with fringes or exposed shoulders, and we all know how the 70’s rule the festival season. Another option for the bolder souls out there, are the crochet dresses combined with a plain bodysuit or a swimsuit. A crochet dress basically is made either for festivals or the beach! It has a very relaxed vibe to it and it is perfect for the hot weather.

Accessories

Top-bottom: www.asos.com, www.hm.com, www.missguided.com, www.nastygal.com, www.asos.com, www.nastygal.com
Top-bottom: www.asos.com, www.hm.com, www.missguided.com, www.nastygal.com, www.asos.com, www.nastygal.com

Accessories play an important part in a festival outfit. They make the outfit special and festival appropriate plus they are also practical and helpful. Sunglasses are really important as well as a hat since you will be dancing and wandering around under the hot sun. Also the bag you will bring with you is a very important accessory. A nice backpack with tassels will be a great choice as it adds to the bohemian vibe but also has enough space to fit a few important things for the festival like water, phone, portable charger, snacks and sunscreen. If you don’t intend to carry a lot during the day, then a funnypack will be perfect as it fits the major necessities and you will have your hands free to move around. Jewels are also important festival accessories, because they compliment the outfit and top up the final look. Big, chunky necklaces and arm cuffs are some of the 7o’s inspired jewels perfect for a music festival.

Shoes

Top-bottom: www.hm.com, www.newlook.com, www.asos.com, www.asos.com, www.newlook.com, www.newlook.com

Another important part of a festival outfit is the shoes; the shoes have to be comfortable and without lacking any style. My personal choice would be a pair of sneakers, as they are the most comfortable shoes for walking and dancing. But since the weather is quite warm, sneakers might prove to be a bit too hot to wear for hours. Therefore, I would choose a nice pair of espadrilles which are still very comfortable and stylish but not too hot. Or a pair of sandals would be a nice summery choice. Sandals are the most stylish choice as they add to the whole 70’s bohemian look and they are quite comfortable. Or a pair of wellies if the weather is not hot as expected but rainy and chilly instead. Wellies are a trend when it comes to bad weather or festivals.

When it comes to tops, I love chrochet and off-the-shoulder tops with aztec print because they have a 70’s hippie vibe. Tassels and fringe tops are also a great choice as well as bralets! Style them with shorts or maxi skirts and you will look like you jumped right out of a 70’s magazine. Top them of with a long kimono or a crochet cardigan for a complete boho look.

Festival season has arrived and I couldn’t be more excited although I am not going to any *insert sad face*. Festival outfits should be fun and comfortable and they should express your festive spirit. However, no matter what you wear just remember to have fun, because that’s what festivals are all about. EVERYDAY NATURAL MAKEUP LOOK

EVERYDAY NATURAL MAKEUP LOOK

2

For my everyday go-to makeup, I try not to use many products or create a “heavy” look. I am a fan of the more natural look that basically enhances my characteristics instead of altering them or hiding them. Therefore I don’t really use bright or dark eyeshadow, however, from time to time I pick a red or a fuchsia lipstick because I like adding a pop of color to the natural look. Having a simple makeup look is also great for transitioning from day to-night by touching it up and making it a bit bolder. If the look is too strong already, I don’t think it differentiates from a nighttime look. The look I share with you guys, is one of my favorite for everyday because it is simple, it brightens up my skin and makes it look youthful, dewy and fresh. I love rose gold, nude and brown/mauve shades so most of the looks I create revolve around those colors. Now let’s get started shall we?

yes

Step 1 – Face

When doing my makeup, the most important thing to me is to create a flawless base. Therefore, I use more products and effort for my face than my eyes or lips.

  • MAC Prep and Prime primer (on face and eyes)
  • NARS Sheer Glow foundation in Mont Blanc
  • Bobbi Brown Corrector in Bisque
  • NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla
  • Too Faced Cocoa Powder foundation powder in Fair (for setting)
  • Too Faced Sweethearts Blush in Candy Glow
  • Benefit Cosmetics Liquid Face Highlighter in High Beam (on cheekbones, nose, brow bone and cupid’s bow)
  • Too Faced Bronzer in Chocolate Soleil (for contouring)

Step 2 – Eyes

Before I am going for a natural look, I like to use nude/light brown or rose gold/pink eyeshadow. I don’t like to use too many different shades as it kind of cancels the whole simple purpose of the look. Once I am done with the shadow and mascara, I do my eyebrows. I always do my eyebrows, even when I don’t use any shadow on my eyes at all, as I believe the eyebrows to be the most important facial characteristic. They frame the face and give structure to it. Well groomed eyebrows can make a huge difference to the way someone looks. Therefore, my biggest makeup advice would always be: never omit your eyebrows!

  • Urban Decay Naked 3 palette shade Strange (as a base all over my eye and eyebrow bone – perfect pink/white)
  • Urban Decay Naked palette 3 shade Burnout (on my lid as the main color – gorgeous metallic rose gold)
  • Urban Decay Naked 3 palette shade Limit (as a blending shade to soften the look and also apply on lower lash line – great matte pink/brown)
  • Lancome Definicils Mascara
  • H&M Soft Kajal Eye Pencil in Pale Nude (on the waterline to brighten up the eyes and make them look bigger)
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz pencil in Medium Brown (for the eyebrows)
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel (to set the eyebrows and blend them out a bit)

Step 3 – Lips

For my lips I don’t have a specific routine as they are my favorite part of my makeup. I like being playful and bold but I also like being subtle and natural. I know it sounds complicated, but basically I can wear anything on my lips. From liquid lipsticks to lip pencils and from burgundy to pink. For this look I decided to go for pink since there is rose gold on my eyes.

  • MAC Lip Pencil in Edge to Edge (I trace my natural lip line and then fill them in as well – perfect medium pink shade)
  • Rosebud Perfume Co. Lip Balm in Rosebud Salve (I mix it with my lip pencil to create a glossy, plum, natural lip plus it moisturizes the lips)

For my everyday makeup look, I prefer to use natural, soft shades that enhance my face and make it look fresh and bright. I don’t like to use many products or bold colors as I am usually going for a natural, simple look. For the makeup look I shared with you, I used light brown, rose gold and pink shades, as they are girly and perfect for spring. Comment below and share your favorite daily makeup looks. INSIDE OUT-LINGERIE AS OUTWEAR

INSIDE OUT – LINGERIE AS OUTWEAR

ola

Lingerie-inspired looks have been around for years. Remember Carrie Bradshaw and her slip on dress or the 90’s. Wearing lingerie as clothes has been one of the most controversial fashion trends. You will either love it or hate it. Although I understand how some criticise them of being too revealing, I do like the sexy vibe they have. Matching a sexy, lingerie-inspired item with more casual and everyday clothes, is an easy and effortless way of spicing up your dressing routine. They allow you to be sexy even outside the bedroom. There are many types of lingerie which are worn as outwear. Below I share a few of my favorite ones.

The slip on dress

dress2

dress1
Image: www.mango.com

There is nothing sexier than an ethereal slip on dress. Sheer, lace or satin, it is still the epitome of sexy. The only important thing is to be careful when picking the length as a too short one could seem a bit too much. A midi, slip on dress with a pair of strappy heels is the very definition of effortless sexy. For instance this gorgeous powder blue Mango dress would look amazing with a pair of white or silver sandals. Sexy yet innocent, it would be perfect for a summer night out. However, the slip on dress can also be worn in the daytime with the right styling. A pair of chunky boots, or ankle boots and a nice bomber or denim jacket would tone it down without taking any femininity away. For instance this lovely Zara floral camisole dress is perfect for a summer day. You can pair it with sandals or ankle boots and a denim jacket for a grunge look. Just don’t forget to be careful with the length of your camisole dress as a too short one could seem a bit too much.

The bralet

bralet1
Image: www.asos.com
bralet2
Image: www.missguided.com

A bralet is another lingerie-turned outwear. It is inspired by bras, but it is not as small and revealing. It is a bit longer and usually the material is a bit thicker. A bralet is also very versatile as it can be worn with skirts, pants and shorts. It channels a feminine and relaxed vibe. I love wearing bralets in the nighttime with a pair of pants and a nice jacket, however, they can be worn in the daytime too depending on the material and length. For instance this lovely ASOS Festival bralet with fringe would look amazing with a nice pair of denim shorts or jeans. On the other hand, this cute Missguided lacy one would look better as a nighttime outfit with a skirt or a pair of pants and a blazer.

The bodysuit

bs1
Image: www.missguided.com
bs2
Image: www.missguided.com

Another type of lingerie-inspired top, besides from bralet, is the lacy or slinky bodysuit. This is actually my favorite lingerie-turned outwear. I love bodysuits way too much! This Missguided sheer bodysuit with the appliqué flowers is simply beautiful! I got it myself and I can’t wait to wear it with a pair of denim shorts and a sheer kimono for a more toned down daily look. However, I can also pair it with white pants and heels for a romantic nighttime look. Another lingerie-looking bodysuit is this black Missguided one with the lace trim on the cleavage. This is a total showstopper; style it with a pair of plain black pants with wide leg for an elegant and sexy nighttime look.

The pijama shorts

shorts1
Image: www.missguided.com
shorts2
Image: www.asos.com

Apart from the slip on dresses and the sexy tops, there are also the pyjama shorts. These shorts are reminiscent of the pyjamas we all wear to sleep. They are usually silky or lacy and have a relaxed vibe. As with all the previous pieces, they are also versatile and can be dressed up or down. This cute Missguided pair of shorts will look great with a crop top and sneakers for a day look, or a bodysuit and heels for a night look. Another pyjama-inspired pair of shorts is this lovely Y.A.S one with the lace trim. It is perfect for spring and summer as it is very lightweight. I love how there is a romantic vibe to it but it can be toned down with a plain t-shirt and flats.

Lingerie as outwear is not a new trend. It has been around for years whereas it dominated the 90’s (see Courtney Love). It may be a very controversial one but I personally love it, because it is a trend that underlines a woman’s femininity and sensuality. The most important thing though, is to incorporate the trend to your life without being tacky and over the top. Picking up a main piece and match it with casual items for an easy everyday look or with more delicate pieces for the perfect sexy nighttime look. Comment down below and share your thoughts on this controversial trend and if you have any favorite pieces share them too. STEPS FOR GLOWING SKIN

STEPS FOR GLOWING SKIN

GENIKA

Glowing, youthful skin is something all women strive to achieve through various products and treatments. Our skin is very fragile; it gets damaged very easily either from factors we something to do with (like diet and makeup) or factors out of our control (like the environment and time). Although it is not easy to change the effect these factors have on our skin, there are ways for us to protect and even repair our skin by minimizing the effect of the negative factors. Bellow, I share with you guys some easy daily and weekly steps that should not be omitted and that will help to achieve the glowing skin we all desire.

DAILY STEPS

Daytime

  • Cleansing: Every morning it is important to cleanse our skin once we wake up. You might think that it is not necessary as all we did was sleep, so how come the skin is dirty. However, throughout the night, our skin is exposed to the environment around us, plus there are the products we used the night before that need to be removed. Therefore, we should cleanse our skin with a mild cleanser, to merely refresh it and wash away any impurities.

  • Moisturizing: Once we have cleansed our skin and before applying any makeup, it is important to moisturize it. During the day our skin is exposed to the harsh environment, like the sun and the car fumes, plus we have makeup on. Either the weather or the ingredients of our makeup, might dry our skin. In order to keep our skin hydrated we need to apply a light moisturizer, that will not burden the skin or interfere with our makeup.

  • Sunblock: The final step of a daytime skincare routine, must be the sunblock. We all know how harmful the sun can be for our skin. From creating free radicals and quicker aging to skin cancer, the sun rays are a major source of skin damage. Therefore, it is essential to apply a good, high protection sunblock before applying our makeup.

Nighttime

  • Remove makeup: Removing our makeup at the end of the day is the basic step of a good nighttime routine. Many women tend to omit that step, which results in all the chemicals from the makeup products to stay in the skin for the entire day. This essentially results in a lot of damage; from breakouts to dry and irritated skin. Therefore, it is crucial to remove all the makeup from the face and eyes.
L-R: Koh Gen Do, Clinique, Johnson & Johnson, Biotherma, Ren

  • Cleansing: Once the makeup is removed, we should cleanse our skin. Even with the makeup remover products, some makeup will remain on the skin. Plus our skin has been exposed and covered in makeup throughout the day. Therefore, it is very important to cleanse it with a stronger cleanser than the one we used in the morning. The cleanser will relieve the skin from all the dirt and damage it has been through since morning.
L-R: fFrst Aid Beauty, Philosophy, Lancome, Lancome, First Aid Beauty, Clarisonic
L-R: fFrst Aid Beauty, Philosophy, Lancome, Lancome, First Aid Beauty, Clarisonic
  • Serum: Before applying our nighttime moisturizer, it is important to apply a lightweight serum over our skin. Based on the skin’s needs, it could be a hydrating one, a brightening one or an anti-aging one. Serums are more concentrated than moisturizers and packed with beneficial ingredients. They are basically boost-shots for the skin.
F-R: Algenist, Nude, Jurlique, Dior, Lancome, Dior

  • Moisturizer: The last step of a good nighttime routine is the moisturizer. Same as in the morning, the moisturizer will hydrate the skin during the night. Since during sleep our body doesn’t function as intensively as the rest of the day, and since we don’t put makeup on while we sleep, the night moisturizer has to be a bit thicker than the day one. The night moisturizer can also have anti-aging properties. Don’t forget that during sleep, our body heals itself and repairs any damages, so we should do what we can to help it.

WEEKLY STEPS

Apart from a good daily routine, it is important once or twice a week to exfoliate our skin and apply a mask. Exfoliating is important as it removes the dead cells and skin. It basically rejuvenates the skin and polishes it. The “bad” skin is washed away for the “new” one to emerge. Because the exfoliating process could be a little harsh for the skin, it is important not to overdo with it; exfoliating once or twice a week is more than enough. Apart from exfoliating the skin, applying a mask is equally important. It could be a hydrating, brightening, anti-aging or anti-blemish mask; the mask’s purpose is dictated by the skin’s needs. Face masks are concentrated and therefore easily absorbed by the skin. They offer an instant boost or repair of any damage done to the skin. Applying a mask on the face is a spa-like treatment but in the comfort of your own home. Again a little goes a long way, so once or twice a week is the perfect frequency for face masks.

Following some simple daily and weekly steps will result in clean, glowing, youthful skin. Using only a few products, can help achieve the perfect skin we all desire. Although my skin doesn’t have any specific problems, I follow these steps, as much as I can, to protect my skin and keep it glowing and fresh. BLUSH-THE SPRING PINK

BLUSH – THE SPRING PINK

ola

Blush pink is a color I have always loved. Maybe it’s my inner ballerina (another dream) or maybe it is the romantic in me, but I always loved this pale shade of pink that is neither too intense nor too faded. It is the pink shade that has a brown hint to it, which gives it an earthly vibe. I really like how easy this color is to match to others and how versatile it can be. It is the perfect color for the in-between seasons like autumn and spring. It reminds me of blossoming flowers. It is a sort of pastel but not really that much. Blush pink is a very popular color this spring and you can find it everywhere, from clothes to shoes and accessories. I love matching it to bronze, rose gold and silver, as these metallic shades are the perfect way to glam up a color that “shy”. Below I share with you guys my 5 favorite blush pink pieces for this spring.

The Coat

I love this loose pink coat from ZARA. It has the perfect blush shade and no buttons, which gives the relaxed vibe of a cardigan or a duster coat. It is not very thick, which makes it perfect for the warmer spring weather. I also love its big pockets, as I always like to keep my phone around instead of having it in and out my purse all the time. A really lovely spring coat!

The Top

This ASOS shirt with the ruffle hem is so cute and perfect for spring. It is lightweight and in a gorgeous pink shade. It has a girly vibe so it might not be for everyone, but I really like girly clothes and it is something you can style day and night.

The Skirt

A flowy, midi skirt in spring’s hot color, is a wardrobe season must. This ASOS midi skirt with buttons in blush is a very versatile piece for your wardrobe. You can style it with almost every color, and it can be dressed up or dressed down. I love pieces that can be worn at any part of the day without looking too much. It is perfect for the warm weather, when you want to wear a skirt which is a little more comfortable than a mini one.

The Pants

Now I am not a pants person; I love jeans, skirts, dresses and shorts but I don’t particularly like pants. However, if I had to pick a staple pair of pants for this season, it would be this ZARA pair of culottes. That is, because they combine two hot spring trends: the color blush and the culottes design. Some people think culottes are unflattering, and to be honest they can easily be, but I believe it is all about how you style them. A pair of flowy culottes is not the easiest piece to style, but with a nice flowy top or a shirt/t-shirt tucked in, they will look absolutely awesome. I like them because they are different from the usual cigarette pants and because of their gorgeous blush color.

The Shoes

A staple pieces list would not be complete without any accessories or shoes. Lately I am really obsessed with the lace up pointy flats. It is a style that has been a hot trend the past year, and I am totally caught up in this. I love how the lace up shoes can be a great alternative to the good old ballerina flats. They give a boho, yet more polished vibe which I love. You can have a very simple outfit but these shoes will definitely draw the attention. I particularly like this Missguided pair of lace up flats in blush, because of the color once again. I just love blush pink and I believe that its closeness to nude makes it a staple color to multi-match this season. Honestly, I can’t think of a better basic pair of shoes for spring than a pair of blush lace up flats.

Spring is a transitional season, where the weather gets warmer and everything gets brighter and more vivid in general. Blush is lovely shade of pink, which associates with the blossoming flowers and the earth, as it is quite close to nude. I really like this color, because it is versatile and therefore, easily styled. It is a girlier version of nude really. The 5 pieces mentioned above, are my favorite staples for this season in the color blush. I hope you enjoy my suggestions and I would love to hear your favorite items in blush or any other color you love for spring. 3 Amazing Post Workout Smoothies

3 AMAZING POST-WORKOUT SMOOTHIES

ola

Working out is an important part of my weekly routine, as I am trying to follow a healthier lifestyle, by eating better and getting stronger and fitter. Before working out I try not to eat a lot of food because it will only burden my stomach and make me feel heavy and drowsy. Plus it will mess up my gastric reflex syndrome. I prefer to have some tea and orange juice before my workout because they give me a lot of energy in a natural way. After my workout I am usually very tired; sometimes I can barely walk. However, before having my recuperating mean, I always make myself a smoothie to replenish my energy levels. I make it right away because the most effective time for refuelling the body is within 30 mins of the workout. Depending on how energetic you feel, the bigger energy boost you need, the sweeter your smoothie should be. By sweet I refer to the fruits used for the smoothie. If your energy levels are not that low, you can use vegetables and less sweet fruits. I also love to add half a scoop of my favorite vanilla protein powder (SunWarrior Warrior Blend Raw Vanilla Powder) or 1-2 tsp of my Moon Dusts from Moon Juice. Below I share my 3 favorite post-workout smoothies. I love drinking them as much as I love making them. In all my smoothies I try to include a handful or two of greens because they are so nutritious for the body and it is a way to get my daily portion of greens besides salads. So let’s get started shall we?

Banana and Berry Protein Smoothie

2

1 handful of greens ( I like kale and spinach)

½ banana ( frozen optional )

¾ of a cup mixed berries ( frozen optional )

1 cup of chilled water

½ scoop of protein powder or 1-2 tsps of Action Moon Dust

1 tsp of flaxseeds

The greens are full with nutrients like mineral, vitamins and fiber. The banana adds potassium and carbs and the berries add antioxidants and fiber.

Orange and Avocado Protein Smoothie

1

1 handful of greens

2 oranges peeled

½ avocando cored and peeled

1 cup of chilled water

½ scoop of protein powder or 1-2 tsps of Spirit Moon Dust

1 tsp of flaxseeds or spirulina powder

Some of the ingredients are same with the other smoothies, like the greens, protein powder/moon dust and flaxseeds. In this smoothie though, we have oranges and avocado. Oranges and citrusy fruits in general, repair the cell damage that happens during the workout. avocados add protein, potassium and antioxidants. Just remember it has to be quite ripe to have the best flavor.

Tropical Green Protein Smoothie

3

1 handful of greens

½ mango peeled

1 handful of pineapple chunks

1 apple cored and peeled

1 cup of chilled water

½ scoop of protein powder or 1-2 tsps of Beauty Moon Dust

1 tsp of flaxseeds or chia seeds

Another lovely green smoothie full of antioxidants and vitamins. Apart from the usual greens though we have apple, mango and pineapple, some quite tropical fruits. Mango is a very sweet fruit which is great since its sugar can be converted into energy plus it is full with vitamin C. Pineapple is also sugary and full with vitamin C, but it can also help soothing any stomach pain and its anti-inflammatory properties can help with strained muscles after working out. Lastly, you all know how an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apples are great energy boosters, but can also help with digestion and cholesterol.

Remember that in each recipe, you should blend the greens with the water first and then add the rest of the ingredients. I add the flaxseed and protein powder/moon dust at the end. A smoothie is a great way to cool down and recharge after a nice workout session. It could have anything you want from fruits and nuts to vegetables and superfoods. The above recipes are my three favorite post-workout smoothies. While Once I finish my workout, I can’t think of a better way to relax than enjoying one of these smoothies. I would love to know which are your favorite smoothies, so comment down below and share your most beloved recipes. Also, don’t forget to pop over my Instagram (@vogueandmacarons) and Twitter (@vogueandmacaron) and say hello!

Perfect Eyebrows + My Eyebrow Routine

HOW TO GET THE PERFECT EYEBROWS + MY EYEBROW ROUTINE

1

One of my favorite parts while doing my makeup, is the eyebrows. I just love eyebrows! I believe that they basically frame the face and give some structure to it. Imagine how weird your face would look without eyebrows. I know right? Therefore, eyebrows are a very important part of any makeup routine.

The first thing is to give the right shape to your eyebrows. By right I mean the shape that suits and flatters your face the most. The best thing would be to follow the natural arch and pluck it based on that. The two ends of your eyebrow are guided by your nose and your eye. So basically to find the beginning of your eyebrow mark a straight line from your nostril and up. Where your nostril ends is where your eyebrow begins. The end of your eyebrow is found my placing a ruler or a pencil diagonally from your nostril to the outer corner of your eye. This is where the eyebrow should end. To find your arch, you get the very same pencil/ruler and from the end of your nostril (like all the previous times), you take it at the centre of your pupil and up. That’s how you find where the highest part of your arch should be. It is an easy peasy way to map your eyebrows.

My eyebrow routine-Favorite products

When I groom my eyebrows, I basically pluck them where I need to in order to maintain my shape, and then I also use a tiny pair of scissors to trim them a little bit. I also use alcohol before I start plucking, to open up my pores a little so the process won’t hurt that much. Of course, I also brush them through the entire process so I can see how they will look eventually.

When I am doing my eyebrow makeup, I use a few products I really like. For feeling in my brows I use a pencil or a shadow. My favorite pencil is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Brown. I absolutely love that pencil because it has a very fine tip, which is perfect for creating a natural (not overdrawn) look. Plus it has a spooley brush as well.

When I have more time at hand, I prefer to use a shadow than a pencil. My favorite duo is from the Naked 2 Basics palette from Urban Decay. I use the second darkest shade called Primal for the first half of my brow up to my arch, because this is a lovely taupe-brown shade that will keep the look natural. If I used a darker shade my eyebrows would look unnatural and overdrawn. For the second part of the brow I use the darkest shade called Undone, because it is a cool-toned dark brown, which is perfect for filling in my sparse part. I use an angled brush because of its shape.

After I am done with the filling of the brows, I brush them with the spooley to blend any excess product and then I use my Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel to set my eyebrow so there won’t be any unruly hair flying to different directions. Sometimes when I am too lazy to fully do my eyebrows, I use a tinted eyebrow gel to fill them in a little and set them at the same time. I mostly use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel in Brunette but lately I am loving Benefit’s Gimme Brow in Medium/Dark. Both of them are lovely.

Besides the products mentioned above, I also love Urban Decay’s Brow Box in Brown Sugar. It is an amazing all-in-one product as it has 2 shades for the brows, a pair of tweezers, two angled brushes and wax to set the brows. An amazing tool perfect for daily use or when travelling.

Brows are an important part of the face; they add structure to all the characteristics. Therefore, grooming them is an important part of a makeup look. It doesn’t matter what you use to get the right brow; it could be shadow, pencil or simply a tinted brow gel. No matter what you choose to use or how you choose to do your eyebrows, keep in mind that they should always frame your face and highlight your features. Try not to overdo them but instead always keep them natural-looking. It doesn’t matter how thin or thick they are as long as they look natural and not like glued on or drawn on. I would love to know your eyebrow routine and your favorite eyebrow products. Also lets connect on my Instagram (@vogueandmacarons) or Twitter (@vogueandmacaron).

Off-The-Shoulder Trend

OFF-THE-SHOULDER TREND

Every time I see a top with the shoulders exposed, my inner Esmeralda (Hunchback of Notre Dame) awakes. I love the bohemian and gypsy vibes that an off-shoulder blouse gives. Wearing an off-shoulder dress or top, is a very sexy way of showing some skin without revealing too much. It is an elegant and playful look. The off-shoulder neckline has been popular for decades with style icons like Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin rocking the style. Lately, with the whole 70’s trend comeback, the off-shoulders tops have been everywhere. They are versatile pieces you can match to a pair of jeans or shorts for a boho look, or to a pair of black pants or skirt for a more sophisticated and elegant look. I love how you can basically dress them up and down. Apart from the tops, equally popular are the off-shoulder dresses. They create a sultry look which I personally love. I am actually an off-shoulder girl more than a cleavage girl. I feel sexier in a midi dress with my shoulders exposed than in a midi dress with low cleavage. Also lets not forget the playsuits. An off-shoulder playsuit is a perfect alternative to a two-pieces look. It channels a very playful and carefree vibe. It is the perfect easy outfit for a day where you just can’t put an outfit together. With spring slowly setting in, off-shoulder tops, dresses and playsuits are a wardrobe must. Below are some of my favorite picks that are perfect for channeling your inner bohemian girl or gypsy queen.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks Review and Swatches

COLOURPOP ULTRA MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICK REVIEW AND SWATCHES

 OLA

Liquid lipsticks are a new trend that has emerged the last couple of years. They are basically lipsticks in the form of a lip gloss, which ultimately dries matte on the lips. The idea of a lipstick that is absolutely matte thrilled me, as I love lipsticks with a matte finish more than any other lip product. Although I already own and love a couple of Too Faced Melted lipsticks, for a while now I wanted to try the famous ColourPop Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks that everyone is raving about.

I ordered 8 – yes 8! – because it was simply hard to choose from the huge variety of colors. Plus they are very affordable at 6 $ which is cheaper than any other lipstick I own. Once I put them on, I saw what the whole fuss was about; the lipsticks are amazing! First thing’s first, they are very easy to apply because of the shape of their wand. Secondly they dry extremely fast; by the time I am done with my upper lip, my lower has already dried. They are very pigmented, which means they cover my natural lip color entirely, plus you can easily built them up by going darker and darker. Once they have dried you don’t feel there is anything on your lips. They are very light and they are not drying the lips at all. They truly are the mattest thing I have ever put on my lips. This part alone is what makes me super excited for them. I love anything that is really matte, so immediately these lipsticks earned a place in my hard. Lastly, they can last for a long, long time. You can actually eat, drink or even kiss someone and the lipstick will remain unphased. I have never seen anything like this before. This exact feature is also the only downfall as it does take a minute or two to properly remove the lipstick from my lips. I have to use my best makeup remover and actually rub my lips in order to get it all off. Because of the rubbing, the area around my mouth is stained with red color, but this is easily fixed with some powder. Best part is that you don’t feel like you have anything on your lips, plus the lipstick doesn’t dry the lips out at all, despite being matte. Bellow there are swatches of all the 8 lipsticks I got so far!

SWATCHES

I really love my ColourPop Ultra Matte lipsticks. They are seriously amazing. The formula is rich, pigmented, non-drying for the lips and it dries pretty fast and pretty matte. Add an incredibly low price and you have the best liquid lipstick combination ever! I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for some great, affordable, matte liquid lipsticks. Do you guys like liquid lipsticks and if so which one is your favorite? If you have tried ColourPop which shade do you like? Also, don’t forget to pop over Instagram (@vogueandmacarons) and Twitter (@vogueandmacaron) and say hello!
