NOVEMBER FAVORITES

NOVEMBER FAVORITES

123

November and autumn – which is my favorite season – might be gone, but December has set in, with Christmas just around the corner. Since it’s the end of the month, I have done a roundup of my most loved and used products! This is so exciting, as it is also my first “monthly favorites” post and I can’t wait to share with you guys everything that really got in my heart this month. I am going to mention not only my beauty favorites, but also my fashion ones as well as some random things!

Beauty – Skincare – Hair care

As a nail polish hoarder, I fell in love with H&M new nail polishes (see full review). Reinventing its beauty department, H&M came up with a new nail polish line, which looks higher end than their usual nail polishes and is a bit more expensive. However, they are absolutely amazing! I am completely converted. They are easy to apply, they dry in merely 5 minutes and they last for a little over a week with minor chipping. Also they so shiny you don’t even need to apply a top coat. I can’t say enough good words about them! I have already got 6 colors and I intend to get more, since the variety is huge!

I absolutely love Burberry’s Velvet foundation (see full review). It is very light and watery, so it is easy to apply and has a sheer, velvet finish. It blends in to my skin in such an easy way, that I can’t even tell I am wearing anything. I really love the sheer finish, especially for every day casual makeup because it doesnt burnden my skin. This foundation has by far the sheerest coverage I have seen. I love how the shade I have has a rosy undertone which is perfect for my pale, pinkish skin. In total, it is a wonderful foundation, perfect for those who seek something sheer and light.

Another makeup monthly favorite is my Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel. Up until recently I was using either a pencil or a shadow for my eyebrows. Lately though, I started using my ABH sample sized clear brow gel and I am in love. I know it is just a clear gel but I love how it sets my eyebrows in a perfect way. They look naturally full and groomed and you can’t see the imperfections and sparse areas.

I got Lancôme’s Renergie Lift Multi Action from a magazine and I decided to give it a try. I am so glad i did! It is amazing. Although it has anti-aging properties, for me it does wonders in moisturizing my skin. It is quite thick, almost like butter and it is absorbed instantly from the skin. I find my face so smooth the following morning and it looks clear and bright. I am very surprised with this cream and very happy I came across it. It is part of my nighttime routine now!

Moroccanoil hair treatment (see full review) is my holy grail! I had heard so many great things about it that I decided to give it a go. This product is simply amazing. I use only a pump for my entire hair and it makes my hair incredibly soft. Also my hair is easier to detangle. I am so shocked at how good this product is. All these reviews weren’t lying. You only need a little bit and your hair will be so nourished, soft and shiny. Definitely a favorite!

Fashion

My Public Desire over the knee boots (see full review) is my favorite pair of shoes for this month. They are so comfortable and pretty. They have a lovely fit, even though they are a bit big around my thighs, and they look so sexy. I love over the knee or thigh high boots. They look good with everything, either jeans or skirts and dresses, and they can be worn for a casual look or a fancier nighttime one. So perfect!

I absolutely love this ASOS black and red checkered coat. It is so pretty and because it has a biker jacket style, there is a rock vibe to it that I find very cool. I love how it’s black but the red checkered lines are so discreet. It is woollen so it’s very warm and has huge pockets which is perfect for when I am lazy and I don’t want to carry a bag with me. Also the detachable black furry collar makes it even cooler and warmer, plus it adds some sophistication which is perfect for the nighttime.

These H&M jumpers are simply amazing. I love how they are so long that can be worn with leggings or opaque tights alone. They are very warm but not woolen (wool itches my skin). Also they have the distressed detail at the bottom which adds some spice to the otherwise ordinary jumper. I have both of the colors they come in: grey and white-grey. They are so flattering and perfect for winter!

 Lifestyle

I am a proper book-worm! I love reading books more than watching movies because while I am reading a book, I become creative and built the stories and the characters in my head. I feel like I am living the story myself. Although I have over 50 unread books in my library, I just can’t stop buying new ones. I am a book-addict! Lately I have been reading the 7 Letters from Paris book and I like it a lot. It is a romantic novel about a woman who met the love of her life at Paris and let him go. 20 years later, after a failed marriage, she goes back to Paris to find that one love and apologize to him! I am a sucker for love stories, what can I say! I recommend this book to all the romantic souls out there!

I absolutely love my Diptyque Violette candle (see full review). I don’t have much to say, since I already have a post raving about it, but this has to be the best candle I have ever used. Like it is amazing! It has a powdery, discreet scent that makes me feel calm and happy. I loved this so much, that I actually finished it in merely a month and repurchased it immediately!

I am so excited to share all the things I loved this past month with you guys. Either they are makeup and skin care or fashion and lifestyle, those things took a special place in my heart and made November a much better month for me! Do you have any of the things mentioned above and if so how do you feel about it? I would love to hear from you guys and also don’t forget to pop over Instagram (@blueberrylover) and Twitter (@vickyinlalaland) and say hi!

70’S INSPIRED LOOK

70’S INSPIRED LOOK

12

Although it’s the middle of November, Greece has gone back to spring mode with warm and sunny weather. However, in the nightime it actually gets quite cold and a coat is mandatory. This is a lovely look for transitioning from the warm day to the chilly night. It is inspired by one of the biggest trends of this season, as mentioned on a previous post (see here), which is the 70’s hippie style. The A-line skirt along with the floral – bell sleeve top is a very bohemian combination. The earthly colors of the top are complimented by the forest green shoes and coat, which is also a very hot trend this season. This look is not the boldest 70’s look you can create, but I absolutely love it and I believe it is perfect for those who love the 70’s but are on the milder and more toned down side.

My favorite piece from the look is the skirt; this ASOS A-line high waisted skirt is very comfortable and flattering for my bodytype. It doesn’t emphasize on the hips or thighs and the buttons create a slimming effect. A denim skirt is such a versatile piece and can be work with everything, from tops and shirts to jumpers and hoodies. It is a must have piece for anyone’s wardrobe. The sheer, floral shirt with the bell sleeves is from ZARA and it’s gorgeous. Mustard yellow, brown and brick red are hot colors for autumn and winter. Although I don’t pick them often, I feel like this top compliments me and my reddish brown hair. I love how the sleeves give this boho vibe which this look is all about. I decided to match the outfit with a forest green coat from ZARA that I absolutely love and have for over a year, and a new pair of ankle boots from TOPSHOP in the same color. I believe that forest green, besides being a hot trend right now, it also goes pretty well with the colors of the top and adds a little something to a toned down, casual outfit. Finally, I picked this light brown bag from ZARA, because it seems like it puts the whole look together. Brown and green is a match made in heaven and you can see the color of the bag in the top! This outfit is a great introduction to the 70’s trend. It is quite casual and perfect for a warmer or colder weather! What do you guys think of the 70’s trend? PRETTY IN PINK

PRETTY IN PINK

From left to right: Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada

Pastel pink is one of my favorite colors. I love wearing it or looking at it as home décor. It is a color that for some reason makes me feel relaxed and happy, as I can’t help but associate it with candy ( I have a huge sweet tooth ). Pink is a color someone would expect to find in a spring or summer wardrobe, however, this season it is seen at the catwalk in brands like Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana and Prada. The shades of it vary; from pastel mixed with lavender, to shiny magenta and fuchsia. With pink, it’s important to pick the right shade; something that suits your hair and skin tone and of course something that you like. Don’t go for a total pink look because you risk looking like candy floss. Instead, add a nice pink piece to a wintery outfit and totally transform it. It can be either a clothing item or an accessory!

Some of my favorite pink items are a coat, a purse or a jumper. I love my LoveMoschino powdery pink purse, and my pink woolen coat from H&M (similar) that I got last year. Pairing a pink coat with jeans and a grey jumper is a cute and perfect look for winter. In converse, I love wearing my pink purse with my light grey woolen coat by ZARA`. In general grey-pink combination is one of my favorites! I also love my lavender ASOS jumper (similar) as it really brightens up a dull, casual winter look. But you don’t have to limit yourselves to these items; you can add a dash of pink on your feet with some fuchsia ankle boots like the ones from ASOS or wear a pink dress with a pair of black opaque tights (who doesn’t love a good contrast?)

Pink is such a girly color. It reminds me of sweets and sugar. However, this season, it is a hot trend to mix pink with traditional winter colors like grey, black and even forest green, and create fresh and bright outfits. This pop of color is exactly what this season is all about. Forget the dark, muted looks and make your winter wardrobe a little more sugary and light! Pink splashes don’t make an outfit less edgy; on the contrary, they make it edgier and more interesting! What are your favorite pink pieces and do you wear them in the winter? I would love to see your pink-drop winter outfits, so upload your ootd on Instagram and hashtag #adashofpink. Don’t forget to pop on my Twitter (@Vickyinlalaland) or Instagram (@blueberrylover) and say hi!

GREY AND THE CITY

 GREY AND THE CITY

blog 043

Happy Sunday everyone! Today is November 1st and finally winter has come to sunny little Greece. It is so crazy how the weather changed from almost summer to total winter in merely 10 days. As someone who gets cold very very easily, once the temperature dropped, I had to get all my winter clothes and coats out and pack my summer ones away. In this post I am sharing one of my favorite fall-winter casual looks. Whenever I leave the house on the daytime, my outfit will be a variation of this look. During winter, jeans, jumper and coat become my second skin. I feel so comfortable and cozy in a fluffy jumper and a pair of jeans, whereas a nice woollen coat is basically essential to cope with the coldness around me.

Grey is one of my favorite colors in general but even more in the winter.  It is the perfect neutral, as you can match it with practically everything and look flattering in it. What is better in a grey, cloudy day than a grey, woollen coat! My beautiful, grey ZARA coat is the centre piece of this look. It has the perfect length and has a A-shape which I really love. That is because I like to wear my coats unzipped/unbuttoned and layer underneath them therefore, my coats can’t be tight fitting. I teamed up my lovely coat with a fluffy, dark grey – almost black – jumper by Pull&Bear. I love this jumper! It’s my newest addition to my jumper collection. It’s quite long and very loose and stretchy, which makes it really cozy. A laid back look is only complete with the perfect pair of jeans. This pair of highwaisted, blue jeans is from ASOS. Guys I can’t explain how impressed I am with ASOS jeans. I started purchasing them in the summer and now I am completely addicted. I like how sturdy and thick this one is compared to my TOPSHOP ones. It is figure-hugging in a very flattering way. My Public Desire over the knee boots are just pure perfection; they elongate my legs and actually even slim them down! They give a boho, more feminine vibe and I love it! I could go on and on about them but instead of dragging the entire post, I have a separate post reviewing them you guys can check out! Last but not least, I am wearing my brown ZARA bag to finish up the look. This bag is so lovely and different from the majority of my bags. It has a ladylike shape I find very cute and girlie, and its chocolate brown color is versatile and perfect for the season. Since this look is rather neutral and minimalistic, with only 3 colors (blue, grey and black), a brown bag adds a pop of color and spices it all up a bit. This look is one of my autumn/winter favorites, because it is comfortable and cosy. It makes me feel relaxed yet feminine and the colors of the palette I use are a perfect representation of this season!

MY 7 FALL STAPLE PIECES

MY 7 STAPLE PIECES FOR FALL

My 7 fall staple pieces
My 7 fall staple pieces

I love fall so much. It is my favorite season because of its gloomy weather! I love how we move from tank tops and sandals to leather jackets and boots, all due to the change in the weather. Grey skies, some breeze all around and falling leaves, is my kind of pretty. I love the color palette of this season as it revolves around brown, grey, burgundy and forest green; all amazing colors. Based on this palette, I have a 7 staple pieces list for this season, that I will share with you guys. These are all pieces I can’t go without; they are perfect for transitioning from warmth to cold. They are versatile and easy to mix and match thus creating many different looks.

  1. Grey woolen coat from ZARA
ZARA Wool Coat
ZARA Wool Coat

What more necessary in a cold weather than a coat? I absolutely love coats. They are keeping you warm but also they are a very elegant piece in your wardrobe. Wearing a casual outfit and adding a coat on top, is my fall-winter go-to look. Although I have many coats of different colors, my favorite this year is my new light grey Zara coat. I always wanted a grey one as it’s one of my favorite colors ever, but somehow it was hard to find the perfect one. When I saw this one I fell in love. It is a pretty light shade and has a flattering fit. A coat is a staple piece in your closet as it is big enough to catch the eye and it completes every look.

  1. Brick red jumper from H&M
H&M Rib-knit jamper
H&M Rib-knit jumper

Another item perfect for the colder weather, is the good ol’ jumper. I love loose fit jumpers, as they create an effortless casual look for every day. They look good with jeans and skirts and they are easy to combine. I have many jumpers but none in a brick-red shade. I fell in love with this color as I find it very flattering on me and it is the basic color of autumn. It goes pretty well with my grey coat (mentioned above) as well as with my navy blue and khaki ones. It is long and baggy which makes it more comfortable and it is very warm. A nice jumper in a hot shade is another staple piece for this season!

  1. A-line denim skirt from ASOS
ASOS Dolly Denim A-line Button Through Mini Skirt
ASOS Dolly Denim A-line Button Through Mini Skirt

As I mentioned in another post, the A-line skirt is one of the hottest pieces of this season. It channels a 70’s boho vibe. I absolutely love this denim A-line skirt from ASOS, because it is very flattering for my curvy shape. I love how it makes me feel sexy and feminine. You can dress it up or down with heels or flats plus it goes well with the thigh high boots I got from ASOS and public desire (see post). Because it is denim it’s easier to combine it with anything of any color. Although I am a jeans kinda girl, I love wearing a skirt every now and then for a girlier look.

  1. Black jeans from ASOS
ASOS Ridley Skinny Ankle Grazer Jeans In Clean Black With Tie Hem Detail
ASOS Ridley Skinny Ankle Grazer Jeans In Clean Black With Tie Hem Detail

I am in love with those jeans! Since blue denim is quite a classic piece, I thought it would be cool this season to replace it with a black one. Black is also a staple color but not as mainstream as blue. However, black jeans are very elegant, figure flattering and perfect for a day-to-night look. This one specifically is very cool because it has the lace up detail on the bottom which makes it sexy and less ordinary. Pair it up with flats or heels, with jumpers or sheer shirts, with coats or leather jackets, this black pair of jeans is perfect for fall and winter. A must have a piece for any closet!

  1. Thigh high boots from ASOS
ASOS Kss me quick boots
ASOS Kiss me quick over the knee boots

You guys know by now my love for thigh high boots. As mentioned in another post, I believe they are the perfect shoe for fall, as they are sexy, feminine and flattering, because they slim down the legs and elongate them. I can’t praise these ASOS suede thigh high boots enough. They have flat heels so they are easy to walk around in all day long but that doesn’t mean they can’t be worn in a night outfit. They make any look very elegant! Now if you guys are not into high boots, I believe a pair of ankle boots is an amazing alternative. Chelsea boots are very lovely, casual and comfy and they could be a staple of your fall-winter wardrobe.

  1. Green saddle bag from ZARA
ZARA Forest green saddle bag
ZARA Forest green saddle bag

Saddle purses are very hot right now. They are easy to wear and give a casual and sporty vibe. They have the perfect size for day and night use. Taking a look at my winter bags I realized that 90% of them are black. And it makes sense, as black is an all time classic and goes well with everything. However, I wanted to add some color on my collection of bags and this ZARA forest green one looks amazing. This color represents fall and is as easy to combine as black. As a matter of fact, my favorite combination is wearing it with powdery pink colors or grey. Forest green is a lovely wintery color and saddle bags are a huge trend right now because of their 70’s boho vibe.

7.  Brown longline blazer from ZARA

ZARA Long blazer with flap pockets
ZARA Long blazer with flap pockets

I absolutely love that blazer! I believe that a long-line blazer is a great alternative to a coat for those not too cold days. It’s very comfortable and soft because it is cotton and not wool, but it will still warm you up a little bit. The color is amazing as brown is a perfect shade for fall and it is so easy to match with everything. It is a versatile piece you can wear casually when going out for lunch or coffee but also at night with a cute dress or skirt. Zara has literally outdone itself this year guys; I am in love with almost everything. Having an outwear piece for the warmer days of fall is quite important and a blazer like that is perfect for your staples collection.

Fall is the season where the weather is neither too hot nor too cold. Therefore, there is a need for a basic wardrobe that helps the transition from summer to winter. These 7 staple pieces are perfect for fall as they can be easily combined in order to create many looks and they represent the season’s color palette. I would love to hear what you guys think and which are your fall staple pieces, so don’t forget to comment down below and share! Also don’t forget to follow me on Instagram (blueberrylover) and Twitter (vickyinlalaland).

ASOS – PUBLIC DESIRE THIGH HIGH BOOTS REVIEW

ASOS – PUBLIC DESIRE THIGH HIGH BOOTS REVIEW

fROM LEFT TO RIGHT: ASOS Kiss me Quick over the knee boots, Public Desire Carmen over the knee black faux suede boots
From left to right: ASOS Kiss me Quick over the knee boots, Public Desire Carmen over the knee black faux suede boots

Thigh high boots are one of the hottest trends of this season. Suede or leather, just over the knee or a little higher, they are the most sought after shoe this fall. They compliment any look. You can wear them with dresses and skirts for a more 70’s vibe or with jeans for a more casual look; they are perfect for just about every occasion.

I have been lusting for a pair since last fall but I never really got around getting one. Then little did I know I would end up with two pairs this fall! The first is from Public Desire and the second from ASOS. Both of the pairs are black faux suede and they are relatively low heeled. Because I know how hard it is to order shoes online due to the sizing and fitting in general, I thought it would be a good idea to write a review/comparison between them for you guys!

PUBLIC DESIRE

So the first pair I order was the Carmen Over the Knee Boots from Public Desire. Now I have been wanting this specific pair for over a year as I find it very sexy and lovely to wear daily and in the nighttime as well. The reason I hadn’t bought it for so long was the height of the heel; it comes with a 2.5 inch chunky heel, which may not seem too high for some but for a 5’10’’ gal like me, is quite high for a casual heel. However, my desire was stronger than my worries and I bit the bullet! Besides the heel, the boot has a chunky rubber sole which is perfect because it makes it less tiring for me to talk around all day. It is a sock style, which means that although it has a side zipper, you can put it on like a sock. Easy peasy! The size I went for was UK 8 – EU 41 – US 10. This was another reason I was worried as we all know how the sizing is never ever consistent among all the different brands. When the boot actually fit and was comfy enough to walk around, I was pleasantly surprised. I do believe that if my foot was an inch longer, the boots wouldn’t fit. The downfall though is that the boot is was too stretchy. This means that it is huge around my entire leg and especially on my thigh, right over the knee. Usually, due to my chubby thighs I have the exact opposite problem so this was unexpected. When I was walking the boot would slowly fall down and sit under my knee. I was really sad but my mom suggested to take it to a shoemaker and have it fitted, which we did and now it sits far better. Overall the boots are lovely: not too high really, quite resting due to the chunky heel/sole, comfortable fit and cute style. It’s not a thigh high but more an over the knee boot which is fine by me. I would recommend it if you are on the look for something like that but remember; you will definitely need to narrow it arround your leg!

ASOS

As soon I ordered the Public Desire boots, I checked the ASOS site ( an everyday habit) and another pair caught my eye; the Kiss me Quick over the knee boots! Now these boots were perfect: thigh high (not over the knee), lower heel and suede as well. I couldn’t resist so I got them as well. Having a 10% off code helped too 😉 I got them in a size UK 9 – EU 42 – US 11 because with ASOS UK 8 just never fits. The boot thankfully fits my foot, although a bit less comfortable than the other. It also has a side zipper and unlike the Public Desire one it is not stretchy at all. On the contrary, this one is actually tight around my thigh. Walking in it is not uncomfortable but once I sit and bend my legs, it is really tight on the back of my thigh. I guess I will have to always stand in them! Apart from that the boot is really pretty but I would not recommend it for someone with longer feet or chubbier thighs than mine.

Overall, I love both pairs! They are quite different as one is over the knee, has chunky heel and it has a sock style whereas the other is thigh high, has low heel and it is not stretchy at all. I am excited for both of them as I can create so many different styles from 70’s boho to 90’s grunge. They are good quality and not extremely pricey, however, the sizing can be tricky especially with the ASOS one as it runs small unlike the Public Desire which is more true to size. A pair of high boots is a must this season or any season to be honest as they can elongate the legs and spice up a casual otherwise outfit. So don’t waste any time and go get a pair for your autumn-winter wardrobe!! Comment down below and share what you think of thigh high boots and which one you like more!

70’S INSPIRED SHOES AND ACCESSORIES

70’S INSPIRED SHOES AND ACCESSORIES

Hats, tassels, high boots and spice
Hats, tassels, high boots and spice

One of the hottest trends of this fall is the wonderful 70’s. Furry vests, bell-bottoms and tops, fringes and suede are some of the trademarks of this hippie style. In the previous post I mentioned the 7 key pieces of this trend that every wardrobe should have. In this post I will be mentioning the Key shoes and accessories you will need in order to channel your inner bohemian queen.

  1. Shoes
boots high fringe-horz
From left to right: ZARA Leather boot with fringe, ASOS Profile 70s high shoes, Public Desire Carmen over the knee boots, ASOS Expression 70s suede platform ankle boots

In order to get in touch with your inner disco or hippie girl, you will need to invest in a pair of over the knee/thigh high boots and a pair of stompy platforms.  Such a statement piece, the thigh high boots are inextricably connected with the 70’s. Suede, camel or black, with tassels or buckles, they are such a feminine type of shoe. They elongate your legs and make them look slimmer. I couldn’t resist to this trend so I got myself two amazing pairs both in black as they go well with anything. One of them is the Public Desire Carmen boots (pictured above). The chunky heel makes them even groovier 😉 Pair them with skinny jeans and a luscious coat for a everyday look or with a girly shift dress with bell sleeves for an ultimate 70’s look. On the other hand there are the gorgeous and daring platforms.  From crushed velvet to wooden styles, they are a perfect match to flared jeans.  If you belong to the fashion daredevils and you are not afraid of heights you should definitely incorporate at least one pair into your autumn wardrobe.

  1. Bags
From left to right: ASOS Hiptipico moza hand crafted leather bag, ZARA Fringed messenger style bucket bag, Nastygal Nasty Gal x Nila Anthony wild west suede bag, Nastygal Addison fringe backpack
From left to right: ASOS Hiptipico moza hand crafted leather bag, ZARA Fringed messenger style bucket bag, Nastygal Nasty Gal x Nila Anthony wild west suede bag, Nastygal Addison fringe backpack

A saddle bag or a playful pouch are they key bags of this season. Although I personally love both styles,  I got myself a cute saddle one from ZARA as I’ve always wanted one. Add some fringes like the Hiptipico saddle bag (pictured above) and they will look as if they jumped right out of the 70’s. Like the thigh high boots, they can spice up any simple outfit by adding texture and become the center piece. Earthly colors are more popular, like light brown/camel and forest green. The best part is that you don’t need to spend a fortune in order to get your hands on those pretty pieces as most high street brands carry a huge variety of both styles.

  1. Accessories
From left to right: Nastygal Not my first rodeo belt, ZARA Special edition hat, ASOS 70s circle turban headband
From left to right: Nastygal Not my first rodeo belt, ZARA Special edition hat, ASOS 70s circle turban headband

Besides the shoes and the bag, there are other accessories you can add to your fall wardrobe that can create a 70’s style, like chain belts and large floppy hats. Belts with many chains or large ornaments and coins are a perfect addition to any 70’s inspired look as well as suede ones with gold details. They compliment the look by giving it  a more bohemian vibe. A big woolen floppy hat in burgundy or camel with a think or thin band would go great with a shift flowery dress. A knit headband would be a perfect company to a simple denim look. I really like the turban like knit headbands, like the ASOS one with a gold middle circle (pictured above), as they are an easy way to make a look more well put together and less ordinary.

  1. Jewelry
From left to right: ASOS 70s bead choker, New Look 70s stone open cuff bracelet, New look Double chain diamond necklace, ASOS 70s stone open cuff bracelet
From left to right: ASOS 70s bead choker, New Look 70s stone open cuff bracelet, New look Double chain diamond necklace, ASOS 70s stone open cuff bracelet

Velvet chokers, statement necklaces and cuffs with colorful stones are some of the jewelry that can complete any 70’s inspired outfit. I absolutely love chokers as I find them very feminine and sexy whether they are plain or with a cute little jewel hanging, like a pearl or a stone. Black and burgundy are two popular colors with brown following up as it turns to be the color of this season. However, if a tight necklace is not your cup of tea then you could go for long necklaces with big gemstones hanging or with a more tribal vibe to them. As a minimalist I personally prefer the chokers but it all comes down to how bold you are! Lastly, a beautiful cuff – preferably gold – with some cool colorful stones like the one from ASOS (pictured above) would be an effortless way to show off your hippie side.

The 70’s is an era full of color and texture; fur, tassels and suede for clothes, shoes and bags and velvet, leather and bold gemstones for the accessories. The fun of this trend is to mix and match different items and pieces and create your unique look. In the end is all about embracing your inner hippie girl and let it out!

FALL 2015 TRENDS: THAT 70’S SHOW

THAT 70’S SHOW

NYFW 2015 FALL
NYFW 2015 FALL

With fall slowly creeping in, an old trend has made an appearance in all the major catwalks; the 70’s are back! While I wasn’t a huge fan of the bohemian/hippie era as a kid, this year I have come to be quite fond of it. I don’t know what it is about those fur vests and fringed boots, but taking a look at them makes me instantly happy.

From NYFW high-end brands to our always beloved high street ones (Topshop, ZARA, H&M etc.), 70’s is everywhere! However, as with all the retro trends that make a comeback, it is important to incorporate into your everyday wardrobe with caution as going too far could lead to an outfit turned into a costume; and it’s not Halloween yet! Below I have put together the 7 KEY PIECES of this trend that are easy to blend with your own style so you can spice it up and create that beautiful and effortless bohemian look for this fall.

  1. Fringe
From left to right: Topshop PU fringe jacket by Goldie, Asos Mango suedette fringe mini skirt, H&M Fringed blouse
From left to right: Topshop PU fringe jacket by Goldie, Asos Mango suedette fringe mini skirt, H&M Fringed blouse

Fringes, fringes everywhere! On boots, on vests, on dresses and purses, fringes are literally everywhere this season. To me it’s a combination of wild west style and hippie 70’s and they totally work together like penutbutter and jelly! I am in love with a fringe black purse from H&M and a pair of suede, camel, fringed boots from ZARA that probably won’t fit my feet! And what about that awesome Topshop jscket (pictured above) right? Just perfect! Fringes are such a fun and boho addition to any item. They could be suede or leather, long or short and they will still steal the show.

  1. Suede

Speaking of suede, now this is a fabric to look out for; Smooth like velvet but not as delicate, suede has always been one of my favorite materials to wear. It gives a sense of a wilderness for some reason. You can find it on skirts and dresses as well as –my personal favorite- shoes and especially long boots. What I like the most about it this season though, is the variety of colours as you can switch from the usual camel, to a pretty pale blue or a dark burgundy, like the beautiful Missguided dress (pictured above).

Boy oh boy, who would have thought that flared pants would come back to haunt us? I remember in highschool that was all I was wearing but I haven’t touched them since college. Looking at them this season, I find myself incorporating them in several outfits in my head which has taken me by surprise. It could be a pair of bell-bottom jeans for a more relaxed boho look, or a pair of suede trousers for a more polished look. Look at this total denim look by Missguided (pictured above). I need this in my life! It’s time to add some flair in your lives 😉

This is one of my favorite key pieces! I absolutely love bell-sleeve tops. I either go for white, or pastel coloured sheer ones, or for floral prints as in that way I combine two trends I like; the boho with the romantic/girly. A nice loose top with bell sleeves is perfect for day to-night outfits; pair it with jeans or cutoffs in the day and with pretty A-line skirts and black pants for a night look. Just perfect!

A-line button down skirts are a major piece of this trend. They add more structure on the total look which why they are perfect match to the loose bell-sleeve tops. You will find them mostly in many denim shades which creates a laid back/country girl. My personal favorites are the vibrant blue shades, like the Missguided one (pictured above), as they are neither too dark nor too light so perfect for all year round. However, for the more adventurers out there, you can also find the IT skirt of the season made out of suede in mostly camel and brown shades. I know I will definitely get my hands on both styles; suede and denim. What about you?

  1. Crazy/funky prints

Bold, colorful designs make a strong appearance this fall. You will find them everywhere from maxi dresses and flared pants to Saturday Night Fever like jumpsuits. Paisley and floral prints add a total 70’s vibe and they turn any item into a statement piece. All i know is that I am definitely going to get my hands on that maxi dress goodness (pictured above) !! I can already see it paired with black thigh high boots!

  1. Vests

Last but not least, a key piece for this fall would be the good old vest but with a twist; look for furry ones (faux always) or embroidered with flowers in creamy and burgundy shades, for the perfect hippie look. Think of Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix to get some inspiration on how to style such a unique piece. I absolutely love the long furry one by ZARA (pictured above) as it looks very warm and stylish! Flared pants and a furry vest are a match made in heaven for this season!

No one can deny that this fall it is the biggest come back of the 70’s. Earthly colors, bold prints, bell bottoms and tops, suede and fringe for modern bohemian queens, are just some of the characteristics of this trend. NYFW has already started and so much inspiration can be drawn from there for the modern fashionistas. Following my 7 key pieces post, there will be a KEY 70’s ACCESSORIES of this trend post where I’ll talk about shoes, purses and general accessories that are crucial to complete a 70’s look. Prima Ballerina

Ballerina in catwalks SS 2015

Good morning everyone! I am so excited to welcome you all to my new blog. Not much has changed though, and in this spirit the first post of this blog will follow the last post of my old blog. The second trend of this year’s spring and summer season, is one of my personal favorites; the prima ballerina. Oh my how beautiful are the clothes of  this trend! As a major fan of this type of dance due to its elegance and romantic notion, I couldn’t be more excited when brands such as Armani, Chloe and Lanvin incorporated it to their spring collections. This trend’s key pieces range from tulle dresses to nude sheer shirts and pleated skirts, paired with metallic accessories like silver gladiator shoes for a little glamming up. Although the colour palette is mostly neutral and pink, aquatic shades are also quite popular as they add something extra and different on this old trend. Just take a look at this beautiful Valentino maxi dress pictured below; isn’t it just breathtaking?

But don’t worry girls! If brands like Lanvin and Valentino are a bit out of your reach, you can still emulate the beautiful ballerina trend; brands such as ASOS, Missguided and Topshop, carry some equally beautiful pieces and far more affordable. I personally fell in love with this gorgeous ASOS dress. That little bow belt adds some extra girlyness to this romantic piece. Or that lovely mint tulle skirt. It’s so elegant and pretty. And lets not forget the accessories. Either it is a pair of ballet pumps in rose gold or a cute little silver belt, accessories are always an important touch to every outfit as they are the ones that pull the outfit together. Lately I am so in love with everything rose gold lately from jewelry to purses and shoes. I believe that they are the perfect match to such an ethereal and feminine outfit.

The beautiful and feminine ballerina is one of this season’s major trends. Covered in tulle and sheer clothes that create an ethereal figure, you can emulate a beautiful white (or black) swan! You can pair it with flats for a fresh everyday look or team it with heels to add some glamor. Enrich your wardrobe with some key pieces and you are ready to join the Bolshoi 😉  Do you dare to come in touch with your inner dancer?

Till next time take care dolls xxx
